I don't love the current track pad of the m11x, I actually prefer the smooth ones on laptops like the macbook pro. My question is can I buy a track pad of the same measurements and replace it with the one currently installed?

I dont think thats possible because its part of the who plastic cover that you rest your hands on when typing. Maybe you could sand it down...but that might mess with the pad's responsiveness and might render it completely useless.

No, it won't wear down. The M11X has some kind of honeycomb pattern has still retained it's pattern after 1 year of constant use. I am also looking into replacing the touchpad. Keep you posted...

If mounting points are same as other models or if not glued together you might.

The track pad is part of the palm rest. You can remove the sensor from under it, but you will destroy it while removing it..... but you will still have the same track pad feel as before.

Ive been using ext kb and took a closer look and it appears the others were right.

Into mods? Cut out that portion and install a different one ;)

I had that thought... wanted to remove it and put in a LCD screen touch pad... but I know nothing about software so Im sure I could never get it to display any thing other than a clone of what my screen has on it.
