I'm looking for something I can carry with me that fits it well and does a decent job...thanks.

I like the Belkin Cooling Pad (F5L055), it works well and for the money you can't beat it.
-
You shouldnt really need one with the m11x. Its thermal design is pretty good and doesnt ever reach temperatures hot enough to damage it.
-
-
Better safe than sorry, lol ~ I noticed that an ever so slight inclination will noticeably increase airflow.
-
I use this:
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Notebook Cooling Model NotePal U2 (R9-NBC-8PBK-GP)
highly recommend it. It's a perfect fit for m11x -
I prop my m11x on a couple (actually 4) hardback books to allow for sufficient air flow underneath...I am an avid gamer playing about 4-5 hours of games (GTA4, MOH, CODMW2 etc) pretty much everyday and my gpu and cpu temps have never gone above 45 degrees Celsius!
The m11x design is pretty good when it comes to cooling and I don't really see the point of throwing away money on these so called "cooling pads".
Be innovative! -
Gonna call Bullspit on 45C ...
-
-
mine's reaches 70-75C both CPU and GPU while gaming OC'd
-
With HWMonitor I usually reach 70 with my i5. What program are you guys(low temp guys) using to monitor your temps?
-
72c max during sustained gaming, i5. shrug
-
I use Everest. It never goes above 50 for me.
Guess the Arrandale is just a hotter chip. -
I use throttle stop to monitor. I just gamed with crysis2 demo for an hour and cpu went 77 max and gpu 65 max right now after gaming all goes down to cpu 47 and gpu 43.

mine gets to low 70's at full load OC'd with TS.
i use my alienware orion portfolio that serves as a case and vented laptop tray.. (see link in signature) the case provides ample airflow and a cool lap when i'm on the go. no need to lug around an extra accessory. my m11x never leaves the portfolio.. which saves me the headache of having to worry about those rubber feet off falling from constant use. *points and laughs @ the rubber feet threads* -
I ended up going with the Targus AWE23US Stow-N-Go Chill Mat for Laptops up to 15.6 Inches Amazon.com: Targus AWE23US Stow-N-Go Chill Mat for Laptops up to 15.6 Inches (Black): Electronics A third party seller on Amazon had it for around $12 with shipping. Looks like it's the perfect size for travel and it has very good reviews. I should received it in a few days...hopefully it'll do the job.

in light of all these R2 owners laughing at us R1 owners...is anyone looking at temperatures from an R1 vs R2 perspective, instead of just overall m11x?
-
mine gets warm but it seems to depend on the game.. when i play wow, no issues, when i play UT no issues but when i play burnout it gets quite warm but seems to just stay warm with out getting too too hot
-
I played crysis 2 on my R1 last night for an hour and checked the temp immediately after. Around 49 degrees both cpu and gpu if memory serves. I only checked cause the fan was screaming the whole time, which I guess helped to keep it cool. No chill pad used. Not that they are a bad idea. My only fear with them is the added power draw through usb.

I think this calls for a great test review to the tune of something like this:
2 Prime95 tests & 1 3D Mark Benchmark on each of the following
(average/lowest/highest temps recorded for each)
1. on a flat soft surface (pillow)
2. on a flat hard surface (glass)
3. elevated rear (2" cardboard box)
4. on a notebook cooler (vantec lapcool2)
I'm really interested to see what the results show. -
Heres a pic of prime95 running for 5 minutes:
Tops out at 49 and goes down after a min or 2 once the fan starts kicking in. -
When I play AC:B or Bulletstorm I go to 75°C and my laptop often shut down to avoid damage -.-

By far the best cooling pad I've found is this one
NotePal U1 - Cooler Master
Very light and you can place the fan directly under the air vent which has reduced my gaming temps by about 5 degrees. -
my cooling pad is my computer raised up by some books. air conditioned room / ceiling fan maxed.. brasil rocks =)
-
-
that thing is awesome.. can you take a picture of your m11x on the cooling pad so i can have an idea of what it looks like with it on it..
cheers!! -
Uploaded with ImageShack.us -
awesome. thanx.. does the m11x want to slide off or is it ok to leave it there all night???? and does it make the viewing angle better because its a bit higher???
-
i leave it all night, no problems...there is a strap if you need. I like that it raises it up a bit, brings it up to eye level.
Maybe its just mine, but there is a very slight wobble to it if you lay your palms on it to type, but being that the machine is so small, it moves when you type regardless.
Can anyone recommend a cooling pad for M11X?
