Hey guys. Im looking for a new laptop and ive narrowed it down to the m11x and m15x. Battery life is not important and im not looking for a desktop replacment, just something to carry around campus for my work and gaming downtime between classes.

I am pretty much set on the m11x but i am extremly worried about the 11.6" screen. It just seems so small. Is it easy to adapt to and do games like BC2 and Rift look good on it?

BTW is there a send back guarentee? Like if i order it and it turns out that the 11inch screen is not gonna work, do i have like a 30day period to send it back and get my money back? Thanks in Advance.

I went from a 24 inch to 11.6 inch screen for gaming and i didnt notice anything.. what i do notice is wen i go from 11.6 to 24 (dont ask me why)
BC2 looks great, i run it on medium, fps range from 30 - 70, processor OC and no graphics OC

I believe it is a 21 day grace period for returning, after 21 days you can return it, but there will be a 10% or more restocking fee and a bunch of hassle.

I cant really say if its easy to adapted to because I went from a 12in to 11.6in. So there is no real difference. I got this basically for school use and gaming, and m11xr2 is easy to carry around campus during my gaps in between classes.

Both those games should be able to run easily on medium.

The screen is small, it took some getting used to for me (I use 22" 1080p monitor for my desktop, and my MSI laptop is 16"). The resolution pairs well with the screen size IMO.

Dell is good on their 21 day return policy. I decided to send my M11x back and there were no questions asked. Good support from the rep too all along the way.

I've found it pretty easy to adapt to the screen size. A day or 2 of gaming for me and I was fine with it. The keyboard on the other hand...

I'm still pushing 2 buttons at once, still getting used to the small buttons...

Plenty of m11x game vids on youtube feature direct captures from the 11.6 display, check 'em out.

If you can't find an m11x locally, you might want to check out a macbook air 11" at nearby bestbuy. You won't be able to game, of course, but bb doesn't block the web on macs, as they do for pcs so you can check out some vids on the small screen.

The mba display is far superior then the any of the m11x displays in terms of color, reflection and viewing angles, but it will give you an idea of the screen size.

Imo, the size is easy to adapt to. You can always pick up a cheap tv or monitor on craigslist if you really can't deal with the screen while gaming.

agreed. it was weird going from 24" widescreen to 11.6", but i'm pretty used to it now. i'm so used to it, in fact, that i sold my desktop and the huge monitor.

also, after a month, i still double-hit some keys.

Yup, I did the same thing. I sold my desktop that I gamed on and use this now as my primary and only PC, but I kept my 20" LCD and i use it sometimes when I am at my desk. It also took me a bit to get used to the small screen and smaller keys but I am not complaining at all. the small size is great for me because i am always on the go. Great portable gaming laptop!!

I'm playing rift right now, it looks amazing. i play it on high with no delays whatsoever. i didn't bother trying ultra because I'm more concerned about performance, so i just set it to something the laptop can definitely handle without a hitch.

Is the screen too small? well, its not too small for note taking and for campus use like browsing the internet. I never thought it was too small for Mass effect 2 or half life 2 either. But i have only been playing rift on my 30 inch hdtv so i dunno if the screen is too small for rift yet.

If your moving from classroom to classroom. i suggest the 11x over the 15. While i'm in college, all my classes have an outlet so i always have my 11x plugged in. but the 11 inch is super light and super easy to move around. hell i've even carried it from one class to another opened on my hand.

If you're going to carry the laptop around, Alienware M11x all the way... because good luck lugging around a 15" laptop around campus with you all day!

I switched from 15" --> 13.3" laptop back in 2004. And since then, I refuse to buy anything larger than 13.3". The portability becomes addictive.

Do most people have problems double hitting keys? or is it just a select few?

I think you have to get used to it. The keys are smaller, so you have to learn where the keys are. When I first got it, I was hitting 2 keys a lot more, but now I'm starting to get better with it. I'd say in a month or so, I'll be used to it.

thank you for all the replys guys. U helped me put some worries to rest and after seeing a picture of the m15x and m11x side by side in front of a 32in tv i feel comfortable getting the m11x and i feel the screen will be just fine.

I got the i7, 8gbRAM, 500gb SataII. March 16th cant come soon enough lol.
