I tried Youtube on full screen and it's okay... on Firefox.

EDIT: The Nvidia GPU isn't on, if that matters.

Thanks. I was having this problem with all of my browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE). Likewise, disabling HW acceleration seems to fix it. I wonder why...

    Hello,

I had the same problem. I set chrome to use the intel graphics card from the nvidia menu and I could run flash videos fullscreen with HW acceleration on. Don't know if it is any better, I didn't notice any difference between HW acceleration on/off with the intel graphics card.

I noticed that 720p/1080p videos looked croppy after disabling HW acceleration. Found out that you can re-enable it after setting the video to fullscreen without getting a black screen again.
Then re-apply the desired resolution and the video + youtube interface will look better.

I have the same problem and I just registered to this forum to see what's the cause of it. So far disabling hardware acceleration does fix the problem. However, before doing it so, I was confused since I was not able to watch youtube videos in the website itself, but if I went to, say here and click on the "Watch video" link, I was able to watch it normally. It's interesting since the video is linked directly from youtube. Maybe the website has something to do with it?? I don't know. But this issue is very annoying.

PS: The "youtube black screen" issue seems to affect Chrome browser only. Firefox and IE worked just fine.

If you are using Chrome the hardware acceleration is fixed with the latest beta release.

The Chrome team is happy to announce the arrival of Chrome 10.0.648.82 to the Beta channel for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Chrome 10 contains some really great improvements including:
New version of V8 - Crankshaft - which greatly improves javascript performance
New settings pages that open in a tab, rather than a dialog box
Improved security with malware reporting and disabling outdated plugins by default
Password sync as part of Chrome Sync now enabled by default
    GPU Accelerated Video
    Background WebApps
    webNavigation extension API
More on what's new at the Official Chrome Blog. You can find full details about the changes that are in Chrome 10 in the SVN revision log. If you find new issues, please let us know by filing a bug. Want to change to another Chrome release channel? Find out how.
