'laptop' magazine article, title says it all:
Update Gives Alienware M11x 45 More Minutes of Juice
so since the rollout of the 'plug' for the M11x 'leak', are there any revisions of opinions previously held by some on the R2?![]()

Incredible update.
My CPU usage in task manager on idel is now at 0%.....!!!!!!
Not tested the battery time yet but that can only be a good thing!
No change on base RAM used. -
-
Well and if i don't have this crap (CC) i was having this +45 from the beginning? Or its all about r2?
-
-
awesome because the command center is really confusing to me
and I dont know which options to change and for the options i do change, they dont work (such as having the backlite LEDs shut off when not plugged in
-
I want to read more feedback regarding this !
-
That's excellent news! This would put the battery at around a max of 6.5 hours?
Perhaps the thread title should be updated to note that this update applies to the Alienware M11x with Optimus (R2)
In any case, superb news, now I don't feel so bad about purchasing the i7 processor.
edit:
I'll be the first to call out Alienware when they do wrong, but I'll also give much props for improving the M11x. =) -
Same here. This evening was the first time I used my m11xR2 purely on batt , after updating the command center, for an evening meeting, and when I turned it on, the batt shows almost 6hrs!
After I got home, after about 3 hrs of use, I still got almost another 3 hours(2hr 45min) left indicated...wow.
I am kinda happy at all the recent driver improvements that seem to keep improving the performance the m11x both system batt and gameplay wise. -
Sweet. When I get home tomorrow, I got to install these!
-
thanks for the head ups
-
So with this is the R2s battery life on par with the M11x(R1) or is it still slightly less?
-
Hmmm. Won't load the download page on dell's site
-
I've been running more or less since it came out and my battery life has always been above 6 hours. So yeah, I'd say it's still not quite up to R1 times, but it's significantly better than what most people have been reporting. I thought my R2's battery life was just a fluke, but the CC issue would explain that.
-
thread title changed again... for the last time
-
Does anyone have any idea on how the updated CC manages to get the extra battery life?
-
-
I am guessing thats why I saw I such a big boost in battery life going to a fresh install. I never re-installed the CC. I am seeing 6 hours just surfing using wifi, 1-2 brightness, and all lights on.
-
I got 30 min more for a max of 5:30hrs min brightness, no fx, 3-50cpu, 3 hard drive, usb disabled both values were itunes constantly running
-
My M11x finally says shipped so I should have it pretty soon I hope -
Did they remove the redundant screen dimming options? I'm not sure how they differ from the ones built in to 7 other than being more confusing (dim factor 1-10? ?) and, when used, dimming the screen without allowing it to undim. I nearly avoided installing CC entirely, bur I wanted the option to switch the LEDs off and it looks like the hotkey driver is part of the package. I guess I could try to look for the inf separately. Of course I couldn't make my LEDs match my HUD in games then. *sigh*
-
I will verify with my R2, Windows is telling me I have about a half hour to hour more than I did before this update. I haven't really drained and noticed how long it took to date, usually on battery no more than 2-3 hours.
-
i did not notice any change in battery life
