Hey guys, I found these photos online, and I happen to have extra 3M carbon fiber vinyl laying around.
seeing how wonderful these final product photos are, I would like to cover the palm-rest and the top plastic-y part of the lcd screen with the said vinyl.
As with any vinyl application, there will come a time when it's necessary for me to heat up the vinyl so it follows the contour of parts of the M11X surface.
Before proceeding, I just have to ask you guys first:
1) will the heat applied (hair dryer) damage the soft touch finish on the m11x, melt it a bit or render it susceptible to peeling later on?
2) any possible harm on the lcd screen itself?
3) how about the effects of heat on the grille lights, possible bubbling or anything along that line?
basically anything on the m11x that might be adversely affected by heat from vinyl application.
thanks guys!

I would check with the m18x and m17x forums, these guys have done the skins a few times.

If you do this little project, please paste some photos of your final work here in the forums; it would be nice to see how does the m11x looks witht he carbon fiber vinyl. -
thanks for the suggestion, i found a thread on modifications in the m18x forum. man, the stuff they're doing are pretty rad, custom paint job etc.
sure, i'll post some photos once i'm done, might take a while though coz i'm thinking of doing it in conjunction with a heatsink mod-still gathering up courage, tools and copper parts.

Thanks, it would really like to see an m11x with a 'mod' like that.By the way, good luck gathering courage for the heatsink mod, 'cause I have not get it yet to do the mod
