Cpu cores different temperatures

So my cpu 0 core is usually reporting to be higher than my cpu 1 core by about 4-5 degrees. I know this should not be common. The strange thing is it did not do this the last time I used it. I have not touched my m11x for about a month due to college, but I pulled it back out today and tried using it. I re-pasted the cpu+gpu with IC 7 diamond. Same deal. Note, since there was nothing wrong before for a few months, there should be know way the heat sink was loose. ( It was not. I checked before I took it off)

Anyway, I was just curious if anyone else experienced this, maybe it was a bad flash of bios or something? I am going to bed now, but if someone thinks that might help, I will try later. Any other advice is helpful.

 

This is a common thing, on my i5 2500k atm my cores are like this:
33C,39C,35C,34C

 

Nothing is wrong with it as gooface said its common thing, normal as well. Nothing is wrong, each core gets different amount of work, and even without that most of the time one core will be hotter than other.

Thats because the two cores aren't one.

 

Hmm, well I don't consider myself new to computers, built a few, fixed many. In this time, the cpu's always seemed at a close temperature to the other cores (I am talking about at idle, though the m11x does this during work too). I heard that normally they should not be that far apart, but I trust your words . Either way. the repaste lowered temps overall so the difference isn't a big deal anyway.

Oh, also, is 56 degrees a good temp for furmarked gpu after 5 hours? (on my m11x r3)

 

The temperature sensors that Intel uses are only accurate to within about +/-5C so most of the temperature difference you are seeing is usually sensor error and has nothing to do with a temperature difference between cores.

 

Are you sure it was using your 540m and not the integrated graphics?

 

Just dropping a pic in of recorded temps. this is under a basic prime95 test. I just remember there was a time when it did not report such skewed temps.

 

Read my post above about the amount of error in these sensors. They are not 100% accurate. Your results are within the margin of error of these sensors.
