I think it depends on your expectations and everyone's are different. To me it's playable on my R1 as is, but definitely could be better. Only a slight bit worse than BFBC2. By worse I mean maybe a couple FPS, but it looks great although a bit blurry at times.

But the visual settings are terrible now. If we could turn off shadows, etc I think it'll be more than playable. Once there are optimization guides out there, everyone should be pretty happy with it if you like the gameplay

Try using Throttlestop and OC'ing your FSB in Bios as high as you can, at least 160 if possible.

I haven't had much time to play this, but I got on a local LA server, hit detection was fine for me. Played it on my M11x with an XBox 360 pad and it was awesome (I know, I know, keyboard/mouse is better, but I wanted to test it with the controller as that's how I'll play SP)

Ran 30-40fps at 1366-768 on it's own panel with gamer settings.

I think the game looks beautiful. I'm going to try to test more of the game on this machine asap.

    I'm using 266.58
    FSB - 162
    TS - Enabled
    stock GPU clocks

*When the game first loads, you may just get a black screen with a green cursor, and think it gets stuck on that. Wait it out, it just takes forever to load the first time.

I also got the Graphics Card not detected warning and ignored it, so far with no issue.

    Very impressive.

THX5334: Do people usually OC just the FBS on the m11x or also the GT335? Also, what's Throttlestop used for if the OC is done via BIOS?
Lastly, how high are most of you able to take FSB without issues? I see you're on 162 on an i7, I also have an i7, are those speeds generally stable?
I've never messed around with overclocking but I'm familiar with the concepts...

No joy when playing it on full hd.... fps drops to 15 and less with gamer settings... i hope the gamer setting isnt low, because then the m11x r2 i7@162Mhz will not be able to play crysis 2 in full hd

they have ruined crysis...... i think its terrible personally..

its to computer controlled ( for example you can only jump high when theres a ledge it will let you jump to )

and now armor is + shield + strength .. pfft

the old system, strength agility shield and stealth was alot better... anyone agree ?

I tried a lot to overclock the 335m, but the thing isnt stable. The best test to check stability is to play crysis for about half hour. Always freezes when i try to overclock the GPU, even putting as low as 530,1120,820. Lower than that just doesnt make any difference in games so i didnt try. But some people seems to have better luck with that.

I overclock the FSB to 162Mhz, i got a BSOD once with 166Mhz, and a system freeze once with 164Mhz, so i'm using 162 but i didnt check for stability.

I use throttlestop always, it starts with the system. You dont overclock with throttlestop. I use it to disable turbo boost when on battery and increase TDP limits when i want best performance.

well, i think crysis 2 is better to play. to jump high just hold space. the strengh option in crysis 1 was useless. now you just hold space and use it. the game feels faster and the commands are more catchy. the replay of your death is great too. they really got the fps spirit.

the only drawback is that i cant play in full hd with the m11x...

Finally got mine to work. Game is great no problems for me anymore getting on, I guess my location is good now (Ontario)... The game is very good on skyline and not so much the other (M11xR2) It maybe my driver though (beta) because I get an error on startup and its not as "smooth" as you are describing but its playable...

EDIT: Got it running very very smooth with TS enabled. Here is a gameplay video of me using the TrackPad Scribe in class

That resolution has around 30% more pixels than the standard resolution of the M11x screen. Try the game with the M11x screen (or a monitor with 1366 x 768 res) and the performance should improve.

    "D:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2 Demo\bin32\Crysis2Demo.exe" +g_skipintro 1 +r_displayinfo 1 +cl_fov 85 +r_glow 0 +r_motionblur 0

Create a shortcut of your crysis2demo.exe and add these things behind it.

    1st command is rather obvious
2nd one is suposed to show fps however doesnt work in the demo
3rd n 4th ones do what they say as such.

basicly apperently commands from crysis1 work, i dont actualy own a m11x so cant tell ya the amount of fps boost it gives but does a fair bit better on my rig.

    Looking for an m17x r3 tho ;p

    Hope this helps

Specs i ran : No Radar Motion (0%) Native , no vsync, gamer.

My system : m11x r1 1.73 oc, NO GPU OC

Is it only me that is finding this game playable on Hardcore settings? Playable enough to stay competetive.

I haven't checked it, but from what I can tell I'm in the low 20's on fps.

I stumbled on a nice little config program for Crysis 2 demo.

It seems to work pretty well. I need to do more testing but I'm sure it picked up a few FPS turning everything off. I think it just makes a custom shortcut with commands like DarkXeRoX offered. Has quite a few settings. For some reason though, last night was terrible jumpy. I don't think it was the configuration as the FPS didn't drop, but there was an annoying pause when running/turning at times. Maybe server lag, idk...

He means the video was rendered in 1080p (which still is higher quality than 720p rendering). The m11x doesn't support above 720p HD (includes 768).

With R2 you should be getting 30 FPS. Try ThrottleStop Force TDP 4 or 8. Helped me a lot. And OC GPU if you get no results from TS

    Graphic: Advanced
    Resolution: 1920 x 1080
    Bios Overclock: 160mhz

    Pic showing the details.
The gameplay are very smooth. However after one hour of gameplay, i got BSOD :(

Now thats REAL 1080p. (I bet that fine TV cost a pretty penny)

And btw I laughed at the last part of your sentence. BSOD sucks. I use to get them ALL THE TIME but for this notebook I can get stable 166 forever. I've kept it on for 2 months now (obviously turning off for power but--)

Salue and halo45121, couple of questions:
    1. I have a An alienware M11x R1 Core2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz | 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 | 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M | 250GB SATAII HDD
    2. I ran crysis 2 demo and its playable but my average fps is 15 contrary to what you say you get, mine fps are much lower.
    3. What drivers do you have? if they are newer than mine please give the site from were you updated. i have 197.72 A01 drivers from dell page, tried to install the latest from nvidia but my top resolution sets at 1020*760, so i went back to dell's drivers.
    4. I see you OC the CPU, please tell me what program did you use and basically what steps you took in order to complete OC, since am new at the process.
    5. Any other advice on how to get the 25-30 FPS is welcomed.
    Thanks in advance,

If you are running at 1.3 GHz then you've got to overclock in the bios. Then there are some configurations you can do when launching the game via shortcut commands also. This can get a few more fps and stop the blurring. Page back a couple pages. I even posted a link to an exe file that allows to configure a bit. I can manage mid 20's average on my R1.

I'm using the same driver. 197.72 came stock on my R1.

Overclocking couldn't be easier. It is done right through the bios. Just set the overclock option to enabled. Search youtube, there are dozens of videos showing how to do it.

Using the custom exe launcher will get you something, but don't expect miracles. Its just the only way to adjust graphics options at all in the demo.

And sorry for the blur image, using one hand to take picture.
How to get 166 stable eh? Last time i tried 166 and can stable for 1 day. After that i will not get into windows or will get BSOD after sometime. Turn down to 158 is the stable-est for me.

Hey pal.. might be expecting a miracle to you, but that exactly what I got. :D

    1. I punched up FPS from 12-15 to 25 both with OC and the exe file, so thanks for the advice.
    2. What temp range is good with the OC?? i measured it while playing the demo and it actually hit a roof of 58 c.Whats your take on it?
3.why if below 60c is good did alienware left our cpu at 1,3 instead of 1.7? (i assume is for battery life).
    4. Do you just overclock to play or u always keep the overclock in the bios no matter what you work on?

Again, thanks for the info.

A temp below 60C is pretty good. The R1 runs pretty cool. Mine is in that range. I think the i-series processors run a bit hotter in the upper 60s but maybe an R2 owner could comment.

Im sure the overclock does cost battery life. But I leave mine overclocked always. I figure why not? Its not a huge drop, but it looses some. Probably why alienware left it at 1.3 stock. Still great battery life with the oc turned on.

I have been playing around with the demo this evening on my R1 and I am pleasantly surprised at just how well it runs. It looks great and I am seeing anything between 25 and 40fps at most times.

This was using the laptops native resolution, gamer settings in game and the loading/tweaking program I found on the steam forums: Steam Linky.

I should point out that my cpu is overclocked at 1.6GHz and my GPU was ran at 525/1260/1740. GPU usage hovered around 95% at all times so the game is obviously pushing the GPU hard (makes sense given the GT335's relative specifications).

Understandably it plays beautifully maxed out on my main desktop (1680x1050, hardcore settings).

Yep, but i'm plugged in my full hd monitor off course. I play crysis with mid to high settings with 30 fps in average in full hd, but crysis 2 demo in gamer settings i get 15 fps in full hd... if the gamer setting is low i'll not be able to play crysis 2 in full hd in my monitor with the m11x... this is what im worried about

Patch is out for it now. Supposed to fix some bugs etc. If anything the hit detection is now actually worse. Graphics seem to be exactly the same. IMO patch near as makes no difference.

ah i never played to play Crysis 2 demo on 1.3 i play it on a OC CPU xD as for programs i used Game Booster the premimem one it shuts down some things to make CPU more free like ? XD and frees up more ram i think but still i notice fps increase when i use game booster in games like Crysis 2 and BC 2
as for GPU OC i never tryed it XD i think it's scary because i never tried it before ;p

I have tried for 600/1440/1800 but some games really don't like it (games like ME2 are fine but Crysis causes the drivers to crash).

BTW I quote it as Core/Shader (2.4x core) / memory so that might be why you are seeing a much higher number.

Crysis 2 (or more correctly Cryengine 3) is less demanding than Cryengine 2 so I will try for a higher GPU overclock tonight. I am not expecting miracles though as an overclock can only give you so much.

Question: The game looks shiny on multiplayer.....it will be the same on single player ? Because I changed the brightness almost to dark....
Question 2: Maybe I suck really really bad with my mouse but....I just cant find a good sensitivity I started with 20 or 25 then moved to 10 and then 15....Do you guys have problem with that?

The "shinyness" is the bloom the game utilises. It is way OTT is some parts and hence I have turned it off completely. You can either do this via a command on the target of the exe file or use the little program I linked too earlier.

The little program also tweaks things like the mouse sensitivity so you might have some luck there as well.
