Hey- Anyone else get darksiders for m11xr2? It was on sale for 10 bucks, but im surprised how poorly it runs on the m11xr2.

unfortunately there is no graphical settings except resolution and vsync....but i can barely run this game in anything higher than 800x600.

Just seeing if anyone else has tried it ,and got better results, or if its just a bad port/needs more video options to tone down stuff (like shadows).

i can run blackops fine (40+FPS constant), Just Cause 2 (no fps reading, but runs great), starcraft, wow, etc etc........just this game is poorly running.

    Thanks.

    m11xr2, i7, 4gb of ram, NO OC's

I have an M11xR2 with core i5 and have no problems, run this game with no problems, Have you whitelisted the game?

odd! it works fine, usually my steam games dont need to be whitelisted (FO NV, torchlight, Just Cause 2, Black ops, all worked FINE without specifically whitelisting).

    thanks for reminder.

    FIXED.

Bought Darksiders when it went on offer again.
Gameplay wise, runs flawlessly. No lag on my i7 with nice high fps.

The only problem I do have it, when it's at the cut scenes, the scenes music/animation are out of sync.

Do you have the same problem?

I played the first couple of minutes and was not impressed. What was all the fuss about? Seems like a very simple action game - like an uglier Ratchet & Clank.

It ran OK on my M15x but looked like butt.

Is normal to forget to whitelist it, I have over 20 games on steam, and all work with the nvidia card by default....

It runs ok on the R1. The lack of graphical options is atrocious.

    I've managed to resolve it.
Pretty much I forced V Sync to be on in the GPU for that game instead of letting the game turn it on manually. Now my audio and cut scenes run perfectly.

A few other Nvidia users had the same problem untill they done this according to steams forums.

I got the game in the steam sale, works great, but it was a pain to make the Xbox 360 controller to work, all the mehus where crazy, like I was holding up in the controller, but the controller was alone...

Took me a while to make it work, I disable some stuff in device manager to make it work right, and the game is a blast...

I hope thos this I disable, are not gonna make me regret later, or if I do a restart those are gonna be back on...

Is gonna be a pain to have to diable those stuff everytime I want to play the game...

if i remeber correctly i read some where that disabling vsync and forcing it off via nividia panel corrects the laggyness, at least it did on mine

Thanks for the vsync tip. I noticed the terrible cutscenes when I tried the game for the first time earlier today.

Gonna try it when the gf gets off the m11x!

Did you mean we need to Force off the V-sync in Nvidia GPU setting there in order to solve the audio out sync problem?

Was so disappointed when i first played just now ...
1st time, the sound become stuttering
2nd time, Force on V-sync, become audio out sync.

I did the video, the game works great, v-synch on, 1360x768, runs around 40-60 fps, I saw a 30-35 in the frames, but for like half a second, 90% of the time runs 40-60 frames per second

The only problem I have was the controller, it was like if I press up in the controller or keyborad, moving alone, and there was nothing to stop it, until I moved some thing in device manager.....

Back when I first posted the problem/solution I was using the 260.99 and it was resolved forcing v-sync on in the gpu settings for the game which fixed mine and a number of other steam users.

As Vidaluko said, the game does run nice and smooth.

I haven't played it since the newer drivers, but I'll quickly test it out now.

EDIT: Just tried with the 266.58 drivers and the game and cut scenes worked fine. Did a clean install allowing it to erase my previous settings for the driver and I didn't need to modify the settings unlike last time. Make sure your audio driver is up to date, and what nvidia driver you using atm?

Still using 258.96 driver atm ... others driver are up to date.
Like others, at first forcing the v-sync on on GPU setting there does fix the first cutscene, but then the rest of the video will slowly out of sync...

Last time i installed nvidia's 26x.xx WHQL driver and whenever i played a game, the action center there will record some system file crashed. If i remembered correctly it was named something like "verde sync" application.
It crashed whenever i play any game.

So I'm kind of a noob...Just wondering...How do you force vsync...as a matter of fact what does it do because I bought it for $10 and it was out of sync during the cut scenes!

    @qtjoel

Open Nvidia Control Panel> Manage 3D Settings> Find Darksiders from the drop down menu> Look at the "Specify the settings for the program" > the last option there "V Sync" click it and change it to "Force On"

I'm afraid I haven't had that problem. I've played it a good solid hours and haven't seen the cut scenes slowly go out of sync.

Did you do a clean install when installing the 26x.xx?

I paid big bucks for this game and it is really worth about $10. The controls for PC just do not work well at all and it is very difficult to get through certain levels in the game because of the controller problem. I had to give up on it half way through and I NEVER give up on games.
The graphics and game play are really unusual and very good...too bad it's so hard to play on the PC.
Plays great on my M11xR2...no complaints.
The port to PC was a very poor job. :( JMHO

Agreed, the PC controls are horrible. You really do need a gamepad for the game as it's mostly button smashing.

Wait, the control issues people are having has to do with not owning a gamepad? That's it? You can't knock the game for that. It's a very good God Of War clone that's meant to be played with a controller.

I would recommend using DS3 tool from motion in Joy. It is a free app that lets you use a 360 or PS3 controller on your PC. I use it to play most of the console ports to PC as the controls on a mouse and keyboard usually suck. It works great with Darksiders and Just cause 2.

Fyi, if you plug your 360 Controller into your usb port, Windows will recognize it and download the relevant driver to your laptop without you having to install any 3rd party app.

    Right.

    MotionInJoy is for playstation controllers.

But anyway, the game plays just fine with keyboard and mouse.

That's what I'm talking about...It just works. The odd posts about control issues is perplexing. It even works with an old logitech rumble pad I have lying around. I prefer the 360 controller though as that what all these console ports map one to one with.

This game rocks with a gamepad. It also runs great on the M11x, though especially with I7 and TS. Though the Gamepad will go wonky, if a G13 gameboard or other similiar alternative controller is plugged in.
