Just woke up this morning, and opened the laptop only to see the keyboard lit up and the alien head showing disk activity... with a black screen....

So i decided to reboot it up... and try again... black screen forever, no more bios post, or what so ever...

Once i was able to ping the IP address of my laptop i tried to take control over with VNC and it worked, and i could see my screen... so obviously, not a driver problem...

Plugged in an external screen, and boom... i got display, so not video card related... Called up dell, and after a bunch of test, i will get a technician on monday to replace up the whole screen... Had it for barely one month, had no hinge problem yet, and well... the screen is dead... off to a bad start with this M11xR2....

Anyone else got a dead screen like that after a very short amount of time?

Before you give up 100% on everything, try unscrewing your base plate, unplugging your battery and holding your power button for 10 seconds to drain your laptop. This seems to be a common solution to a lot of hardware problems in laptops, and hey, it saved me when my keyboard went haywire. It's worth a shot =D

I tried that with the india rep on the phone... to nothing better...

Tech came in today... with... only the LCD screen itself... since LCD is glues inside the cover, he obviously had the wrong part number...

Now, Alienware offered me a replacement system, since i only have it for a month. Now, is this a good thing? Will i get a refurb system, or i will get a brand new system and just ship back the old defective one?

Anyone was offered a replacement system right off the bat on the 1st tech visit? Did i get a good tech that insisted on a replacement system since i barely had the laptop for a month?

An Alienware rep is supposed to call me back within 24hours since the tech left my house... and i am already wondering if i get a change at a replacement, if i could use that opportunity to upgrade (and pay the difference) to an M15x instead of the M11x replacement they offer me... Anyone ever did this?
