OK, I see that Dell no longer sells the Green Onion Supply AG2 anti-glare screen protector film for the Alienware M11x. I remember asking if it still fit the newer displays after noticing the my replacement has a lighted area around the outer alien head logo that was not lit before and I remember people telling me "yes," but I can't find those posts anywhere.
Now, I came across a different anti-glare screen protector on eBay where the author explicitly states "fit for Dell Alienware M11X Laptop (Only for old verison)." Did the camera, mic, or light sensor get moved on a newer display? Is this why Dell no longer sells the AG2?
The same eBay seller also sells another M11x kit with a keyboard protector but that one is not cut to fit the whole display (explicitly says that it only covers the LCD area). This leads me to believe that there is at least some reason for them to say what they are saying with the first version.
So, does anyone know if they are still compatible across the r1, r2, and r3 with and without the new hinges or alien head? Thanks!

IRRC the R3 has 2 mic inputs on the screen...

Weird. You'd think they would still sell them for R1 and R2 users (as there are many) and explicitly state that its only for those two models.
edit: glad I got mine two weeks ago -
Fits the screen totally fine - but it does cover the mic inputs.
You can hack your own way to open up the holes if you need to.
I have one on my R3 right now.
Got it from Amazon. -
Mic array ir normally 4 mics within 3in to [whatever reasonable] distance, and it can pinpoint where the voice is comming from, and cancel out all other noise. Two will still do, but don't expect it to work on a busy showroom floor (4 mic array will likley work in such a location). -
I'm still debating on putting mine on will it help with the lines left by the finger oil on the keyboard from getting onto the screen ?
-
Yes it helps a decent amount actually.
It is much easier to wipe down as well - plus it also protects the screen from scratches.
Much easier to replace a 30 screen protector than a scratched up LCD. -
Well, I ordered one from Dell by speaking with a rep. It seemed like something made it difficult for him though (put me on hold for a long time). Also, he quoted me ~$35 but it looks like it was ~$25 according to the email confirmation. I also ordered an extended warranty though.

OK, so I installed it near-perfectly! The only imperfection I see is that the two holes I cut with a three-hole punch aren't perfectly aligned (I would have done better with one of the single hole-punch tools). The only way to do it with a three-hole punch without accidentally punching a second hole in the wrong place was to take the bottom cover off and empty the paper chads so that you could look through the bottom, but it still wasn't ideal.
I did have to lift the right side to dab off a bit of debris with a piece of scotch tape (stuck to the film and not the screen surface). It wouldn't lift with scotch tape like the instructions suggested, but the whole side lifted when I pushed it with my fingernail right next to the trapped debris (it was lifting the film at that edge). From there, I used another piece of tape to dab it off the screen and lay it back down without any new bubbles/debris.
It looks great! I couldn't be happier. I followed every trick in the book though, including turning the bathroom into a stifling hot sauna. The included dust isolation sheet worked very well but it kept sticking to the film when I was aligning the first edge and making me start over, which is how the debris got on that edge. -
Update: I gave Invisible Defenders the measurements to adapt their product to the r3 anso that should nicely clean up my cuts.

I got this one on so perfect, and the anti-glare is so necessary, i can't switch to a new one. Plus this was like 30 bucks! And my mics work fine even covered up.
Dell no longer sells Green Onion Supply AG2 anti-glare screen protector? Still compatible?
