How do you define, fine? Are you happy with the FPS dips or are you saying Diablo 3 somehow runs amazing on your machine with 60fps all the time?

    Interested to know.

ok, r1 is a no go.

4 player games with everything off/lowest setting, in big battles it will drop to 2-3 fps.
you can do the game solo and it will work fine, but the moment you get 3 more players in the game, it will drop fps when you get a few [8+] monsters on your screen

not sure if the newer nvidia drivers will make a difference, but im on the 263 by dell, and its pretty bad in large battles

That has got to be physics then because R2 owners are seeing pretty good results with the 335M GT, sadly might be the restriction of the old duo core CPU's. :(

Still in Beta though and updates may come. I have not been able to log in at all to any server from the UK just having 0 luck even after trying all possible fixes. Going to just wait for the real game.

You should try using the North American server instead. I've had zero log in issues from morning to night :)

Latency shouldn't be that bad - I play FPS games on UK servers all the time and the worst is 200ms, which is still very playable.

here you guys go. FPS drops hard in intensive CPU bound areas. I turned throttle stop on and off to show the differences in FPS. just uploaded it so HD quality may take a while to kick in.

I can confirm what Mazdaspeed_6 just posted. My M11x R2 handles Diablo 3 fairly well, but I do experience FPS drops with multiple spell effects going off on-screen. With 4 people, it can get very choppy when things get really crazy... especially with many skeletons on screen, or many of those fat demon thingies exploding. Most of the time it's very playable.

Blizzard seems to enjoy making their newer games incredibly CPU intensive... which kinda sucks... but oh well.

im going to update the nvidia driver and see how it works, ill let yall know
    updating to 296.10 wit 550/1350/875

its much better with the OC and the drivers
fps only drops to about 8 in 4 player games, but still pretty bad
i think its the cpu thats choking, and there is too much going on for it to handle

OK so i play for about 1 hour today and found major improvements. These are the settings im using:

    Texture detail - High
    Shadows - Off
    Physics - High
    Clutter - Low
    AA and low fx off

I get around 60fps alone, ~ 30-50 in intense battles
with 4 other people roughly the same, with a few instances going to 20 but totally playable!

No overclock whatsoever, everything stock. After about 1 hour cpu temps were about ~78 degrees, and GPU ~ 80 degrees.

Pretty satisfied at the moment, will keep testing though!

Is anyone noticing that the CPU throttles back every once in a while, especially when there are people in your party or you have a companion? This is driving me absolutely crazy. Runs around 60, then drops to low teens until i minimize and let the CPU cool for a second.

    Anyone else?

so it seems to be running ALOT better today on my r3 i5 than the first few days, must be server lag I was experencing, even with 4 people with going crazy still playable,

however like someone said above, I get lag during that companion part with the templer, like when he knocks the wood down the stairs.. odd it doesn't seem like much but I get lag spike there

I would love to try playing it with my M11x R2 but unfortunately no guest pass..
I can't believe Blizzard won't even let us freely play on trial.

Retail copies came with guest passes, they just aren't freely opening it to the public yet. WoW used to be the exact same deal.

It ran rather disappointingly on my R3..

I ended up putting in an SSD, 2 more gb ram (6 to 8, so it now runs dual channel), and using the latest nvidia drivers.

It now runs like a champ with everything maxed except for shadows, which I put on low.
    25-60 FPS, I'd estimate.

That's strange because I have the i5 version with 6 GB of ram and I have it running on all high settings, except shadows (medium) and getting an average of 42 fps. It sometimes dips to 25-30 when a lot of action happens, but quickly jumps back up to the 40's. I haven't played a lot of multiplayer, so that may be why I am getting better FPS on my R3? I have played about 9 hours and level 11 barbarian and level 10 demon hunter. I have everything at stock settings and no special graphic drivers.

I play on an external monitor on 1920x1080. with my high-end R3.
With all settings on high and AA on, I get around 20fps which can drop to 15 on some occasions.
If I change all the setting to low and turn AA off, it goes up to 30-35 fps, but stilll drops to 15-20 on some occasions.

Tried it on low to medium settings, shadows and AA off, getting 70-80 fps.

From 1 service member to another I wish you a safe mission over there. I just returned from my 6th deployment a few months ago. But back on the topic Diablo 3 Has been out for a month so far but for you there isnt any chance to play it due to the need for an internet connection needed to play. If you have SniperHill where your at you might be able to play it.

I'm using the 296 version and the latest patch gave me an FPS boost as well, with shadows off and everything else on high i get from 40-60 although if a huge number of mobs come on screen it can chugg.

Theres a few people on here that it run it flawlessly max settings apprently i've asked for fraps recordings but nobody provided so will assume they are lying.

Absolutely if you don't mind having shadows turned to medium/completely off for a smooth experience.

If you want a smooth max setting game play it on a desktop or m14x.

I really don't get how you guys are having a hard time on Diablo 3 with the R3..... I currently have the R2 i5 and it runs fine, single player constant 50-60 fps. Full game(with 4 ppl) the lowest i seen was 20 ish fps with alot happening othwewise its 30-40fps. Im overclocked at 1.6 not using throttlestop. settings running at high for texture shadows off and everything else medium

i used to get such high frame rates on everything high, shadows off....now my m11x r3 starts over heating like crazy, where GPU is pushing 90 degrees sometmies. CPU is fine, hovers around 77 degrees. Now with 4 people, it constantly dips to <5fps, and my laptop gets crazy hot? Do i need to blow out dust in my laptop or something? Almost becoming unplayable in a party...

Yes as your CPU tops out at 90 it will be auto throttling to reduce the load on the CPU (ie drops the voltage, less voltage less heat etc).

Open it up and clean out the HSF assembly (short sharp blast of compressed air, do not use long blast's), a cheeky re-paste with some AC5 or similar may also help as it looks like the pre-applied compound has dried out on the CPU.

    Regards.

    C.
