I think you've got yourself a good deal.

I've got one myself with quite the same spec as yours.

I don't know about the total war series, but i can tell you that every single game i tried, it played perfectly.

    Game on!

I'm using the M11x at stock speeds.

All my games run without AA and when possible possible 8XAF

    Just to name a few..

    BFBC2 - Medium settings = 55FPS
    DiRT3 - Medium settings = 58FPS
Bulletstorm - Everything High, Post processing medium = 53FPS
Mafia II - Everything High, Physx On = 48FPS
Batman AA - Everything High, Physx High = 45FPS
    SFIV AE - Everything High = 97FPS
    Crysis2 - Very High = 38FPS

Does anyone know if the OP's processor:

    Intel Core i5 2467M (1.6GHz, 3MB Cache)

    ...is turbo boost enabled?

I bought a m11x r3 recently with the i7 2617m and am starting to think I should've got the OPs i5 if the speed is the same.

If the speed is around the same, you got a good deal

It should turbo boost to 2.3 unless Dell disabled it for some reason, which would be very unlikely.

You can just create ISO's of disks and ship it across the network, most games you can no-cd crack or dont require one.

True but I play a lot of homeworld 2 and if i use a no cd patch i cant play my mates online as using a no cd patch causes the game to see each other as different versions.
But apart from that most of my games are steam based. I hope I can play total war and Civ V on the m11x lol
