Well this is an odd problem that I've had for awhile...In the past I (and my little brother >.>) have either: Sneezed, accidentally fingered, got dirt/dust/w.e it is on the screen and I can't seem to clean it off. I purchased a cleaning cloth and spray used for screens, including monitors and glasses, and it seemed to remove only some of the filth. Anybody have any affordable solutions to clean the screen without me having to take it into a repair shop?

Check if your hinges are OK. If they aren't, you can ask for a replacement that will include a new and clean screen...

hinges have nothing to do with it. use a VERY soft cloth with rubbing alcohol, should do the trick.

edit: no mention of hinges before, but yes call dell and have a tech come out and replace it. but in the future use the rubbing alcohol for cleaning the screen

Oh nice as a matter of fact one of my hinges snapped making the screen unstable shortly after my purchase...so just contact dell? Would I have to replace my entire laptop and re download all my files and send my current one in?

Edit: Ok I'll try the rubbing alcohol thanks :)

Only as a technicality, I would rather use denatured alcohol instead of rubbing. Rubbing alcohol has a tendency to pull the oil out of plastic and rubber causing it to crack. Not that this will happen immediately or anything. Denatured alcohol has less of a tendency to do it.

Only learned that from the years in field service before moving up in the world. Its like never using Windex to clean a normal LCD. I will do the trick, but the ammonia in the Windex will cause the frontal layer of the LCD to peel after extended use.

You need to clean the screen ASAP, because those dirty spots can be "burn2 into the display, still, it takes days or weeks, but some do stay there forever...

I doubt the dirt can be burned in. However you should clean it asap!

Some stains "burn" the screens, the plastic that is over them, not all, but I have read some manuals about HDTVS, and it say to clean them or even avoid touch them at all because of this...

With the m11x is easy, just use it in a well light room and you can see all the stuff that is on the screen....
