Is there a way to disable the trackpad on the R1 while typing?

Tricky...I know if you go to mouse settings you can complete disable it...

I did this for the volume. You can create a shortcut to turn up/down volume then hotkey it to a key stroke. Im not sure how you'd do that for the mouse pad though.

Ok great! Now it is possible to disable the trackpad when a external mouse is present?

That part is really easy actually...type in mouse in the start menu to get your mouse settings up. Go to device settings with the little synaptic icon on the tab. Find the little check box that says "turn off pad when mouse is plugged in" or w/e it says.

Look in your Alienware Command Center, under AlienTouch. There is an option there to disable the touchpad.

The drivers of Synaptics website do not have the "disable when an external mouse is plugged in" feature but the ones on the dell site do.
