    Do new C2D m11x come with Optimus?

    I was just wondering real quick if you order a new $800 model core 2 duo m11x on the website if it will come with Optimus. I ordered this 2 days ago before I even knew what the difference between m11xr1 and m11xr2 even was. I noticed that I did get the "Cosmic Black" color which leads me to believe it's the same glossy m11xr1... but my main concern is Optimus. I need to know before I try to cancel this order.

    Has anyone ordered one of the new post r2, $800 core 2 duo models?

    If it is indeed a core 2 duo, it will not come with Optimus, as this is a core i3/i5/i7 feature.

    C2D does not have optimus, thank goodness. I'm very happy with the performance of my M11xR1.

    Optimus is only offered on laptops with a Core i3/i5/i7 CPU.

    The reason is that the Core i3/i5/i7 CPUs have the Intel HD Graphics GPU integrated onto the CPU package itself. The GPU is not a separate chip like it is on older CPU generations. Optimus needs this integrated CPU design in order to operate.

    So to answer your question: No, Optimus is not available on M11x R1's, and never will be. It will only ever be available on laptops that have at least a Core i3/i5/i7 CPU or later.

    Which means if the next m11x has optimus then my next notebook will most like be a m15 class or other brand.

    Yeah, I'm so glad my R1 didn't come with Optimus. Granted, the whitelist app sounded pretty sweet but I've had zero problems with a manual switch. I hope this baby will last me a good long time.
