Does the M11s R2 or R3 work with the R1 BT module?

Dell has me on hold right now while they check to see if they have any warranty replacement notebooks with my configuration (Best Buy retail "R1" with 250GB HDD, 4GB, SU7300, no BT, 1GB GT 335M, etc). They said that if they don't have it in stock they will be configuring a new one with the most similar specs (assumedly, the lowest end R2 or R3). The problem is that I bought the internal BT module and installed it myself and I need to know if it will work with one of the other models in case they don't have a direct replacement.

    A little help?

R1 and R2 BT module are the same. I have no clue on R3.

Thanks. Chances that I'd get a min-spec'ed R3 are slim but I noticed that they only offer a BT3.0 module in the online configurator, so it very well may be different.

Well, the service manual for the M11x r3 shows one exactly like the Dell Wireless 365 used in the M11x r1 and r2 but everyone is reporting Dell Wireless 375:

The thing is, DW375 has a cable instead of a built-in connector, so someone must be wrong here.

Dell manuals are very often incorrect about little details like this. Someone who going to do a TIM reapplication on their R3 (or just likes tearing down their notebooks) should be able to verify for you.

Verified: They are NOT the same form-factor The r3 uses a DW375, which requires a specific cable. My r3 had the cable installed with no BT module, which is good because I couldn't find one with a matching cable on eBay and Dell wasn't able to order one for me. The DW265 from the r1/r2 does not have a cable at all (directly connects).

I doubt you will get the R2 or R3, as the R1 is still in production. I purchased one from dell, which was delivered last week.

I already did. That was me, the OP, verifying it above you.

Did you purchase an RMA'd unit?

Certainly not!, I've made that mistake in the past.

It was this one, and a UK discount code. (10%)

i can confirm the differences in the Bluetooth. I owned an R2, and by physically installing the Bluetooth myself (bought off eBay), it does not require a cable. The other day i reapplied thermal paste and the R3 did have a separate cable along with the normal connectors attached to it.

Strange. They don't even sell the R2 i3 in the US anymore. Their website only lets you choose an i5 or i7.

I already verified in post 6 but thanks! We now know that more people than just myself have the cable included, which is good. Even so, an eBay seller wants me to take good pics of the cable for him though I don't plan on going back in until I get my BT adapter.

I, too, ordered and installed my own DW365 in my r1 and knew that it did not use a cable. The r3's service manual showed one exactly like it (built-in connector) without a cable, so as soon as I saw that there was a cable, I knew it was different.
