Vorob, was looking at this as well.

The most recent driver I can locate on dell's support site is for the Dell Wireless 1501. Now, the interesting part - the Dell Wireless card drivers have always incorporated the drivers for all of the various Dell Wireless options - meaning, its a multi-device driver installer.

Bad news... the installer will fail and state no compatible device is available.

Good news... you can point to the driver directory and install manually. tested and I have now updated to the most recent version available on support.dell.com. ( version 5.60.48.35, dated 08/11/2010 - the driver listed on the 11x support page for the DW 1520 is v5.60.48.18, 6/2010).

Here is the link to the download -

    Drivers and Downloads

    Directions to install:

    1. Download driver to desktop

    2. Run driver's .exe (R270598.exe) - this will extract all driver files to C:\Dell\Drivers\R270598

    3. After the .exe finishes extracting driver files, it will attempt the install and a failure message will be displayed. This is ok - proceed to step 4.

    4. Go to Device Manager

    5. Open up the Network Adapters tree of Device Manager and find your 'DW1520 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card' entry. Double click on it and choose the 'Driver' tab.

    6. Choose Update Driver ----> Browse my computer for driver software

    7. Type the following in the Browse to field:
    "C:\dell\drivers\R270598\DRIVER_US"

    8. Click next - Windows will now update your wireless driver using the specified files.

Best we can do for now - if anyone else comes across a more recent version please post details.

Apologies for the necro, but I've been having a lot of trouble with my DW 1520 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card also, but on an m17x. Would this still be a viable solution?

If it doesn't show up in device manager after a reboot then I would expect that either the card is not plugged into its' socket correctly or the card is dead. It might make sense to check the card in a different laptop and see if it fires up. Even without the proper drivers, it will still show up as a device in Manager...even if it is a problem device.

I really like the utility software that comes with the 1520 driver on the Dell site...congestion analysis etc are useful features. Much more info than when you let Windows manage the wireless connection.

I travel alot with my own router and the M11x.
