What with the new Incursion expansion that was just released recently. How does the M11x fare when running at max settings? Min-max FPS? Can someone post a vid, screens would be much appreciated as well.
-
I will probably post some screens later - or someone else will, yet one thing is for sure - Eve plays perfectly while being absolutely maxed out. Moreover, the AlienFX is supported by Eve, so that the keyboard / speakers color effects interactively react to whatever happens ingame. I'd say Eve and the m11x are a match made in heaven.

i run 3 clients at once at work at 1366 x 768, everything high, no AA and no bloom (personal pref ) it does about 30 fps, 80+ just running one client.
as for the alienfx mine just spazzes out and flashes pink and yellow for no reason. even when docked, so i just tend to turn it off. i have been to an incursion and tbh it doesnt really tax it anymore than vanilla eve, though you may get jump lag going into these systems.
ccp really do need to roll out the new god rays over every system tbh -
. I disabled it as well, since I am not that fond of such gimmicks - yet I can't help but feel good about this minor detail.

So, squeak, that's when running Incursion?

the alienfx spaz? its been doing it since i got my m11x back in early december lol, it still does low cap and hp warnings. but it just flashes random any other time

This has nothing to do with the M11x per se, but I have been debating starting up in EVE. Can a new player start from scratch and eventually be on a level playing field with long-time veterans, or will it be difficult to catch up at this point? I can dedicate a couple hours a night, but definitely won't be able to consistently play 4-5 hours at a time. Is it even worth me trying to get into EVE or would I not stand much of a chance at this point?

The beautiful thing about EVE is you can enjoy "end-game" content (ie/alliance warfare) within days/weeks of starting a new account. Also, since the skill training system is real-time, it won't matter whether you play 5min or 5hrs a day, you'll gain the same amount of skill points per day for leveling anyway. This means you'll never be able to catch up with people on older active accounts in terms of raw skill points, but you won't need to.

I tried Eve before but found it very boring. Maybe it's just me, but I gave it a week of regular play and didn't find it too interesting, although the promo YT video of it made it look incredible.

I recommend it if you like a complicated game with an actually economy that is partly driven by the players. Not many kids play it either so you get a mature audience. CCP has big hopes for the game, in station exploring is coming in a little.
Anyways.
Does the alienfx work with eve cause that sounds kinda cool and i kinda want an m11x. -
I could right pages upon pages about the mechanics of EVE and it wouldn't even scratch the surface. I played for 3 years and enjoyed end-game content from the start, and the only reason I left is because I was tired of lag in fleet flights (which by that point had reached rather epic proportions and made the game almost unplayable - by "epic" I mean over a thousand on one side vs over a thousand on the other side - basically a 2000-man battleground to use WoW parlance).
EVE is a sandbox game, so don't expect any hand-holding. The vast majority of the content is user created and controlled, and the learning curve is steep (but worth it). If I were you, here's what I would do. Do the tutorial, knowing that its only purpose is to teach you the complex interface, then join a player run corporation (ie/guild) as soon as you can. Preferably one that either regularly roams into low security areas, or one that operates out of one - best way to learn in EVE is to be thrown straight into the deep-end. If you're not hooked within a couple weeks while in a corp, then the game is probably not for you.
-
Also a lot of corps will be willing to help newbies out with ships and fittings. If you find a good corp you will want to stay.
-
try eve university, they are pretty famous for training new players, or if they are still active red vs blue, they have a constant war dec on each other, if you want the pew pew
i agree it isnt for everyone, and it can get boring, but with a bit of imagination people have done things that no other mmo could provide.
