Is there a function with these synaptic mouse pads to emulate the 3rd mouse button? On my last laptop it was 1+2 at the same time = 3. This doesnt seem to be the case with this mouse pad. I ran through all the synaptic device settings but couldnt find anything. Any ideas?

i'm in the same boat. the only workaround that i've found is that in the synaptics settings, you can assign functions to the four corners of the touch pad, and i have the middle click function assigned to the lower right corner, so that when i tap the corner, it mimics a middle click.

not the greatest solution, but i'm already used to it after a couple weeks. i do have a compact microsoft arc mouse that i generally use with the computer anyway, so it's not a huge deal for me.

Yep, just install TwoFingerScroll from two-finger-scroll - Project Hosting on Google Code
It's free, and does exactly what you want !

For middle click you can try this: middleclick.reg
Open it and then restart for Left+Right = Middle.

Google says you need to make sure the Synaptics Drivers are installed first, otherwise you'll see that error.

I've never had any problems with it, my M11X is running Windows 7 64-bit.

I signed up only to say THANKS! :)

I don't have an alienware, but this tip seems to work with any synaptic touch button.
