To answer someone who posted a question regarding activation of the 335s for simple HDMI 1080p viewing...I found that if I open Google Earth, it does indeed force the 335s to engage (I used the test tool to verify).

When ever I would hook my M11x up to my 52" plasma to watch movies from iTunes, it would stutter. By opening and then minimizing Google Earth, the movie is now very good quality.

Sad that this is the work around...Fix it Nvidia!

There is no problem with what's going on with your system for nVidia to fix. What's happening is Google Earth engages the 335m, which takes over rendering the movie from the IGP. If you want it to render movies played in iTunes, add iTunes to Optimus's list.

edit: It just occurred to me maybe you mean you did add iTunes to the list, but it doesn't start the 335m. In that case, I'd suggest using a different media player than iTunes in the mean time. VLC and Media Player Classic are two good choices.

here's a tip: you have to say "Autobot! Transform!" in your microphone for optimus prime to transform.

I don't think Optimus has become a Prime yet. At least on Planet R2. He'll kick arse when he finally gets there though ;-)

I just got the system today.

It changes to nvidia whenver power is needed in my experience so far.

It switches for high res flash videos, slingbox, and a game I installed.

Pretty impressed so far. I am using 1080p tv btw.

Never had an issue with optimus, ever. Been using the lap attached to my 55 inch led tv to play games or watch streaming video, and it's all worked fine, with hardly any intervention on my part.

So the integrated Intel GMA500 has problems with handling a normal Windows Aero desktop? Something must be wrong.

Not sure about that at all. I was expecting intel to pay videos and such by itself, but nvidia kicks in whenever there is a demand for slight power it seems.

The 335m takes over certain graphics calls. They are detailed in the optimus documentation.
