Every M11x owner - Please contact Evenbalance/PunkBuster to fix the Optimus bug! They don't care! Read my exchange!!

Hey all,

I contacted Evenbalance, the makers of Punkbuster. I submitted a support ticket and didn't hear back for two weeks. They brushed me off and passed the buck to Nvidia. Whether the solution lies on Nvidia's end or Evenbalance I get the feeling it's not going to be presented unless we hound not only Nvidia but also Evenbalance. As maybe they'll be so pestered, that they themselves will get Nvidia to fix it.

There are multiple threads addressing this issue with every owner of this machine. It seems that the correction lies in an update with PB.

What does it take to get this addressed and fixed?

Please address an update to handle this as it's affecting thousands of gamers and hurting the solid reputation of the software.

THEIR RESPONSE FROM "GLENN C" (2 weeks later I might add):
Note #2: This is an issue with the Nvidia drivers themselves, possibly in conjunction with your particular hardware. Even Balance does not allow multiple d3d9.dlls to be running when playing on a PunkBuster-enabled server. This has been the case for quite some time. I'm sorry, but this will need to be addressed by Nvidia.

Seriously. Please every M11x owner, submit a support ticket to Evenbalance and flood their system. Let them know how big the problem is and get angry.

If the fix lies with them and they keep passing the buck, we'll never get a fix and be stuck with compromised gaming machines. Please. Spam Evenbalance. They're supposed to be the little guy. Software made by gamers for gamers. And they're pulling corporate baggery.

They need to know this problem is widespread and goes deep into their consumer base.

Is there a good forum on these boards where we can hit all Optimus owners at once?

 

I know this has affected a few people cause all points bulletin the mmorpg has punkbuster runing by default.

Just my opinion. But it sounds like a Nvidia driver problem to me Just from you original post. Think your barking up the wrong tree . Or I would talk to the people that created the game your having trouble with maybe it needs a patch .

 

I already sent my ticket in, they asked for a list of processes which I will be giving them shortly.

 

PunkBuster is one of the crappiest programs ever made. Bad Company 2 is the very last game I bought using it. I am getting kicked from BC2 servers pretty much @ random.

I also heard their customer support is equally terrible as Dell's.

 

The problem should be fixed (well hopefuly the one that was kicking you). There was a problem with GameSpy. I was getting kicked all last week but played last night without a single hitch (BF2142). The problem affected alot of EA online games.

That being said, PunkBusted is the worst thing since Syphilis (not speaking from experience ). It took them forever to support Vista/Win7

 

I put in a ticket as well, really annoying to not be able to play Bad Company 2 since getting this laptop and updating to the latest and greatest drivers. Same response that Whiplash got, going to send them my processes when I'm home tonight.
