Nope, unless I'm thinking of the wrong thing, but there is no slot for a big express card.

There is some kind of slot, I thought it was an express card, where the Gobi card would go, I think it is a standard slot of some sort.

Not very helpful I know, but I know there is a free slot in the M11X is you did not get the Gobi.

That's a pci-e slot, which is different from the actual ExpressCard slot. ;)

Do you mean an internal pci-e slot?

If it is an external port, then it is express card.

Big express card? Express cards are small (especially the 34 version), much smaller than the older PCMCIA card slots.

Actually only a little larger than the memory card slots.

If no, I am wondering why? I thought all notebooks had an express card slot, except nowadays most netbooks do not. This isn't a netbook.

To me, it is a dealkiller not to have that slot, as I would want to use an external sound card with it, like my Echo Indigo IOx.

Lenovo Ideapad S10 was the first netbook I know of to have it but, IIRC, they got rid of it in the ideaPad S12, despite the larger size. I may be wrong about them getting rid of it, so look it up.

Oh, and Best Buy had a misprint about the M11x having ExpressCard on their website, but it does not.

True, unfortunately, that most or all netbooks these days don't have express card slots. The Lenovo S10 was one of the last. The later model S10-2 didn't have one. (I believe the S12 does have one.)

But the M11X is not a netbook. Therefore I would have assumed it would have an express card slot.

the only reason to get an express slot is external graphics cards, which are slowly appearing. However with the m11x low end cpu, it would be pretty pointless to bother with anything better than the 335m (which is barely balanced with the CPU as it.

To you that may be the only reason.

To anyone who does any kind of professiinal audio or music work on a computer, the built-in sound cards are insufficient. There are good express card sound cards, such as he Echo Indigo iox.

I thought the M11x had a fairly good CPU for a notebook of that size, no? (Certainly much more powerful than a netbook. Or not?)

You could always purchase a USB2 to express card adapter, you can pick them up fairly cheap now..

The slot(s) on the left side of the M11x are for 3-1 media card reader (SD/MMC/MS)
The slot above that is for a mobile SIM card in conjunction with the internal WWAN card.

An ExpressCard port for V92 modem could have been handy, but USB port does just fine.

Not a good option. USB2 is much slower than express card, much less throughput, etc.

A good audio express card would have much less functionality through a USB adaptor, if it worked at all. Furthermore, major loss of portability that way.
