Today I booted up my laptop like any other day and when the screen started to light up from completely black the screen just got stuck and it gave me this extremely loud beeping sound over and over again until I decided to shut it down via the button.

This happend three times in a row. Later I decided to try again but this time with my TV monitor plugged via HDMI and it worked...

    WHat happend here? :/

LOL that happened to me in a large lecture hall at my university during class!
It was embarrassing to say the least.
Sorry but I don't know what caused it either, it just went away and the laptop started working fine after hahaha

it was an error code probably. Was it constant beeping? Or several short beeps then a stop, then several more beeps then a stop? If it happens again note what the beep code is and call dell support. It means something is wrong with your computer.

It could be something simple like the RAM got dislodged somehow and is not properly seated. Easy to fix that, just take out the ram and put it back in.

Of course it could also be something more serious, like one of the processors not properly communicating with the mainboard. The beep code should help you determine which one it is.

Either way you should call support and ask for help.

Here is a link to the error beep code chart. It should help you determine what the problem is. http://www.nullamatix.com/dell-diagnostic-beep-code-troublshooting-chart/

Could be be due to my laptop screen being disabled and it's trying to boot? I had it set to only show projectors and when I tried to boot it my projector or monitor wasn't connected..?

The beep was one long beep and it didn't stop.

Like everyone else said, those loud beeps are error codes. It usually means that a hardware component inside your computer either shorted, failed to initialize, or had some kind of critical error on boot.

when I used to rock a desktop, I'd get beeping like this when a component didn't have enough power... It turned out I had a shoddy power supply, and hardware components weren't getting enough juice because of it.

If you're getting this error a lot, you definitely want to give Dell a call... you may have a damaged hardware component and you wanna get them looking at it before your warranty expires.

I also got a loud and long sustained beep noise once during class. Had to shut it with the power button too. But it was just a one time occurrence.
