For those who cant get fn+f2 to work, You can download the dell battery meter program and just open the program manually when you want to dissable charging.

Even after downloading the provided files here, browing on the Dell support page and installing their battery meter program I'm still unable to enable/disable battery charging on my M11x R3.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

What does it do when you open the program, click the "battery life" tab and check the "dissable battery charging" ?

There isn't a program that presents me with those choices...
Is there a file I'm missing...?

Has anyone had their M11x battery die on them? How long can we expect them to last? My R2 is about a year and a half old and I'm worried it's going to sneak up on me since these batteries are over $200 on ebay.

I have a year + 3 month old R2. Granted, I didn't do the whole 40-80% thing, but the wear I have on mine is 33% according to batterybar and batterycare.

Just from experience, I doubt this is necessary to a degree. I obtained a m11x off of someone who had it plugged in and in charge mode (and on) for about 2yrs. After getting it, I expected the battery to be toast or at least greatly diminished. To my surprise, I got nearly 4-5hrs off of the first usage with the hybrid mode graphic driver. I've since gone discrete-mode exclusively so the battery is not as good... but it's still quite good after so long (3yrs 2months).
