I have been scouring the internet the past few weeks on which ultra portable/netbook to get. I'm coming from a 1215n, which is just too slothy in windows and not enough gaming power for me. I looked at the new dm1z which turns out to be almost no gain at all for maybe 50$ from my pocket after selling the 1215n. I looked at the 600-900$ range of culvs, too expensive and not enough gaming for the price.

Finally it seems that the m11x r1, at a sub 500$ pricepoint on the dell outlet(after 15% off) will be more than perfect for my needs. Battery, size, gaming.

My only questions are, is the core2duo much better than an atom in windows?

Does it browse well, hulu, netflix, Word, all that good stuff?

Does the restarting to change graphics mode get super annoying?

Will the LEDs and design get me mad chicks?

Will the refurbished model come with a new battery?

    Thanks!

I guess I just want someone to confirm this is the best thing ever at a sub 500$ price point? XD

I am not sure if I understand what you are asking... if you mean the GPU switching - you definitely don't need a restart for this - merely press Fn+F6 and - tadaa.

Yes, it is. But make sure you have enough information both on the nature of the hinge issue and on everything in connection to it.

Ohh, wow I was way off on the graphics switching, well thats even better. I had heard randomly that it required a reboot. Awesome.

I've read up on the hinge, prepared to deal with it.

yes. doesn't really compare to an i5 or i7 but for most daily tasks, it's snappy.

yes. i have had some problems with the integrated graphics when watching some high def material, but with the discrete 335m on, no sweat.

depends on what kind of chick you're going for...

most likely, this is the most versatile computer you can buy for $500 or even $800ish, in terms of being able to game, battery life, lit keyboard, etc.
