I have had my trusty R1 through multiple deployments and moves while in the Air Force, but it was just wearing too thin. I finally let him go.
The story my compensation for him is a little crazy. I listed it locally. I was hoping to get $500-$550, since I have recently seen them on eBay going for $500-$800, so I thought I'd list for $700, get lowballed a few times and eventually accept around $500. I was wrong.
Less than 12 hours after I posted it someone offers me my full list price of $700, so I was excited. I wrote him back saying I would try to make it up to the base he lives on in a day or two. Not 15 minutes later he writes me and says "If you drive it up here tomorrow, I'll give you $900 for it!" Obviously I was shocked... being that he was located less than an hour away, I didn't see the trip being worth that much, but apparently he did. He wanted an R1 that bad... I told him he didn't need to do all that, but when I showed up he gave me $900, said thanks so much, and walked away... nuts.
So that same day someone listed the laptop in my signature for $850... so I upgraded and made $50Good day...
