    Hey guys,

I just picked up Firefox after a year or two of devoting myself to Chrome. I love the feel of it but I've noticed like Chrome I have the Nvidia GPU running whenever it is open. With Chrome it was easy. I just whitelisted the integrated graphics of the one .exe. With firefox I whitelisted the 6 or so in the folder and it still runs using the GPU.

    Any thoughts on the matter?

I've never really thought about this (so far optimus as done everything well for me) so I decided to take a look. In my nvidia control panel for firefox and internet explorer, my preferred processor is a blank selection. When I select it, I only get two options
"Use Global Settings (Integrated Graphics)" and "NVIDIA Recommended"
Everything else seems to have 3 selections.
"Use Global Settings" "High-Performance NVIDIA Processor" and "Integrated Graphics"

Anyways probably not a lot of help. If someone tells me how to tell what firefox is using I'll let you know if it works for me.

In one of the bars above next to advanced or something (it's a tab) there will be something like "show gpu usage In task bar" there will be a little green square that will light up orange and red whenever the gpu is in use. If you hover over it then it will show you the icons of the programs using it.

Sorry for being vague. I am on my iPad doing my final rounds on the forums heading to sleep.

Hmm. Mine allows me to select the integrated.

It's using integrated. There is a separate task you can select in the Nvidia control center that shows when and what program uses the gpu.

SLightly OT, Deevu, are you sure you had an a03 bios? I still haven't seen one posted.

I had to do the same thing, my integrated HD3000 can handle anything flash can throw at it up to 1080p, but Firefox was set by default to my GT540M , which uses a lot more power.

I had to manually white-list the HD3000 to run with Firefox.

it could be that the plugin-container.exe needs to be set to integrated... i don't know what driver you're using but that's what i used to have to do.

It is the plugin-container.exe , that causes the nvidia gpu to activate , but just manually setting Firefox to integrated on the white-list seems to work for me.

Yep 100% positive. I find it weird they haven't posted it either. If I remember and have time I will post a pic of the BIOS after class.

Weird. I have it whitelisted. I am going to try to reinstall my IGP driver then

    SOLVED:

So the issue was with my IGP like was mentioned. I had it whitelisted in Optimus but for some reason my computer was not detecting the drivers installed on my computer for the HD3000 so I uninstalled, registry cleaned and restarted. Then I installed from Intel and restarted. Now it works :) Thanks for all the input everyone +1 to each (if I can).

It was funny cause I thought my computer was crapping out because after I restarted the last time it said MSI cannot find suitable hardware and my GPU was now not being detected. I restarted again and now everything works perfectly.
