    Hi,

I finally got round to fixing my hinge problem with some epoxy and I let it rest for 24 hours. The hinges are now fixed but the LCD just shows up white and coloured lines after been turned on.

What would cause this and is there a fix for this ?

    Thanks a lot!

Looks like a problem with the monitor cable.

The problem is either a loose monitor ribbon cable connector, or a damaged cable (crushed wires).

Re-seat the monitor cable connections, and see if that fixes the problem.

Are there any Guides on how to do that, or even a manual from dell on how to open the m11x?

Also just as a note, after I epoxied the hinges and let it to dry. After maybe 15 mins after the epoxy started to set I turned the laptop on and the LCD was completely fine. Today after the 24 hour curing, I turned it on and this greeted me.

Some glues are corrosive when wet (even just the fumes). The glue may have corroded part of the cable if it wasn't electronics safe.

If thats the case, how would I go about repairing/replacing the damaged cable?

You can buy a new cable, I found this online: 757TW | Alienware M11x M11x LCD Ribbon Cable Working Pull

In order to replace the cable you will have to take the M11x apart yourself, or have someone else do it for you. I'm not 100% positive that the cable is the problem though, but it seems like the most likely contender at the moment. In any case a new cable is much cheaper than a new screen, so you can give it a shot, and return it if it wasn't the problem.
