Whenever I try to hibernate or sleep my m11x, the screen fades to blackness, but the lights, fan, etc. are still on. So I wait for five minutes thinking that it needs time to hibernate, but it's still stuck in the same situation and I have to force restart to get my computer working again. I know that my hibernate is enabled, so that's not the problem. Maybe it's a certain program that's preventing my computer from sleeping. This is really important. Any advice would be helpful! thanks!

    Does sleep/standby work?

I find that its usually hardware drivers failing to enter its sleep state..

Also kill all unnecessary running processes and see if its a program causing it.

thank you so much! i can't believe i didn't think of that! anyway, i did what you mentioned and started killing off processes and narrowed it down to dropbox. that's the thing that kept my hibernation/sleeping hanging.

    thanks!
