I updated the Nvidia driver using the download available directly from Nvidia. Now when I play GTA IV, looking at the graphics settings, it is using the integrated video instead of the Nvidia card. I made sure that both the GTAIV and launcher exe files were set to use the Nvidia card. I also tried turning off automatic switching in the Nvidia global settings. When I downgrade the driver to the one Dell offers on their site, GTA IV works perfectly but another game, Split Second, does not work well at all. The newest driver from Nvidia fixes Split Second but kills GTA IV. I have also tried running GTA IV directly from explorer rather than starting it from within Steam, but it doesn't make any difference. I have also tried deleting and re-installing GTA IV.
Anyone out there having a similar issue? I have perused the Steam forums but there isn't very much mention of the M11X.

If its the issue I am thinking of then yes you may have to revert if you haven't tried the beta drivers yet.
The issue that Im thinking of/happen to me is the game runs with the NVIDIA GPU (you can see it in the NVIDIA GPU Monitor Tray Icon) but the game itself doesn't detect any GPU and it says that you have something like '0/5659 Resources avalible' and it doesn't let you change the graphic settings.
So yes to solve this you can either try the new beta drivers from nvidias website (I have GTA but it is not installed on this HD, I install all my games on an external that I dont have at the moment). Or what I did to fix it was revert to Dells 257.30 drivers and it works perfect on High with shadows MED (but as I said now I have the beta so I will try all games when Iget my external HDD back) -
Yes, the newest driver from Nvidia is known not to work with GTA IV. The best driver for GTA IV to my recollection is 260.99. However, it doesn't work with some games using PunkBuster and the won't run many as well as the newest ones.
GTA IV broken after Nvidia driver update...
