I got an M11XR2 with the latest drivers from Dell and I got a legal copy of GTA San Andreas. When playing, doing random stuff it will all sudden freeze and the sound loops. If I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL I can get back to the desktop but the process refuses to exit, I have tried to exit through task manager and doing the taskkill command but nothing works, I have to do a hard reboot to exit.

    Anyone experience the same problem?

I have tried to run gta_sa.exe as an administrator and tried to put compatibility mode to Windows XP, but it doesn't fix the problem...

Do you know any way to fix it? This is the only game I'm having problems with, it can even run Call of Duty 2 which are known for having problems in Windows 7, I can also get Medal of Honor Allied Assault and Return to Castle Wolfenstein running without any problems.

It is the version of the driver you are running. you will have to downgrade to 260 or before to fix the problem.

This freeze has been discussed quite heavily by a number of users on these forums. The only solution is to download EVGA Precision Tools and downclock your shader clocks.

It has nothing to do with what driver you are using... these freezes are problem with the M11x R2's shaders.

Hm, is this risky, can it create problems with my other games such as Mafia II?
