Ugh. Defragmenting RAM? Seriously? The access time makes the address ranges used completely irrelevant. The video from MajorGeeks has him saying that it's important that is can defrag games installed on other drives because the system defrag misses those but... once installed, they don't just "get fragmented." It's ridiculous. Files that are routinely read and written do. Because this doesn't happen on a secondary drive, the only fragmenting is the original installation, which will be MINIMAL on a drive that is only used for storage... unless you are installing files to it while you download or copy other files or something stupid. Even if you did, you only need to defrag ONCE and the game itself will stay defragged. Duh.

"Essentials" just sound like bundling AIM with other apps you want, like Winamp, which is not OK for an app you are paying for. The driver features aren't going to help us r1 folks now would it help me with my P5N32-E SLI Plus in my gaming desktop.

It's like all those "snake oil" registry cleaners, file sweepers, etc. Best practices: Manually tweak and make a clean install when you need it, manage processes and know what you are doing.

that will help us "R1 users" iv had mine in discrete mode since day 1. iv been using gamebooster for 3 years, and if you dont know how to shut things off manually then this helps a lot.

Can this be used with Throttlestop? And how much does this actually improve gaming in terms of fps?

From what I hear: This won't help too much unless the game is borderline playable. It alleviates system processes to focus more on gaming. Beyond that most people say it doesn't work just purely because their system can play most games without issue. Games like Crysis 2 on the M11x might add a few FPS (up to 5-10 if you are lucky) but games like WoW and others that are older won't see much difference.

In conclusion: I'd pick it up for the off chance you get a game that is borderline playable for your tastes.

Gamebooster. Throttlestop DEFINITELY helps a lot. Up to 50% boost in some cases.

I agree completely I was just referring to the above posts question as to how effectively it boosts game performance and where to use it.

ooohhh ok, it does help if your RAM limited, or one of the windows processes is taking up a portion of CPU power, on my old asus netbook i got about 7 fps gain on a couple games. not sure about on my m11x, havent gone through all the fps tests, but i keep it running at all times.

One thing's for sure "defragging RAM" didn't do it. ;)

Does the pro version give a better boost to game performance than the free version? I used the free version for a few months and every time I change to gaming mode, it says something like "90mb of your RAM is freed up". Is 90mb a significant amount?

90 megs could be the difference in memory it takes before you run out of ram and it starts caching to the hard drive and decreasing performance.
so yes, it could make a world of difference in a situation like that.

I made some test with Assassin Creed Brotherhood with those settings:

1366x768, everything on high except Shadow, 4x AA, post process ON

Without Game Booster: 19 -25 (on crowd street)

With Game Booster maximum performance and close all application possible I got 21 - 27 (+2) in the same scene. Not much as I expect.

About Intel Rapid Storage, do you guys know what it do exactly? Can I turn off it permanently?

Its a free program so can't really complain. Set it up once for which processes and programs you want shutting. Drop your games in the game box and forget about it. When you launch the games from the box it sorts everything for you. I quite like it :D. Especially for free!

Has anyone else tried to put more than one game in the game box and got the "upgrade to premium" pop-up? I've activated the premium version using the key provided about 5 times, but it won't let me put more than 1 game in the game box.

Same here. Won't let me put more than one but it clearly states premium. Oh don't we all love bugs. I just keep it on gaming mode the one game I keep in there is Bad Company 2 because that game is beautiful on max settings so every FPS gained is worth it.

I did some tests, and I got the same frames in the games I play, so I uninstalled it, plus it installed other stuff that I did not want to, I guess I clicked yes at some point in the install, but it was like 6 icons at the end in the desktop....

    I uninstalled it already

Its not the programs fault if you blindly click through the installer.

I have 5 games in my gaming box. Did you just active the current version on your laptop or download the latest version 3.4 (I think it is).

I think you mean version 2.4. I'm also encountering the same problem as several others are encountering. I also can't add more than 1 game on my game box even though I have the premium version.
