I'm having a problem with games freezing on my m11x R2 - anyone else having a similar issue?

Starcraft 2 freezes on occasion (I know that there is a bug that is supposedly causing it ..), and CIV IV (!!!) also freezes a lot.

I'm not overclocking (although I have turbo mode on), so what could possibly be causing CIV IV to freeze? Whatever it is my also be affecting starcraft 2. Has anyone else had CIV IV freeze up on them? I never had any such issues when playing it on bootcamp on my macbook pro.

    *edit*
I should also mention that after I forcequit a game that has frozen I cannot open any other programs. If I restart it gets stuck at the 'shutting down' screen and I have to do a forced power-off restart.

Since there's not OC involved, then I'd next look at 335 drivers. Try others to see if they fix the issue for a specific game.

I am using the A03 BIOS, and I am using whatever the newest graphics drivers supplied by Dell are. I just remembered I am overclocking the GPU very slightly, but I don't believe its causing the problem ...

I did hit 70C on the processor temperature-wise once, even though I'd only been playing for about 10-20 minutes. Not sure whats going on there.

70C is fine, I hit high 60s on intensive games. Try lifting the back up slightly with two coasters or the power cable, this improves airflow.

Even the slightest GPU OC will make WoW unstable from my experience. People say this seems to be true for other Blizzard games.

WoW is certainly the most unstable game I run.

I'd also recommend a cooling pad. It's great to be playing a rather intense game and having the laptop nice and chill on the inside.

I just had same issue with my R2.... Starcraft 2 freezes even if I use slight (470/810/1150) GPU overclock.... Sometimes after 1 minute into the game..
At first I thought it could be driver issue but its not...
I changed 257.30 to 258.96 it didnt make any difference.
Got rid of this problem by running it on stock GPU clocks....
You can keep CPU OC... I use 162 FSB
    Hope it helps

Nevermind - I wasn't overclocking the gpu earlier. Today I tried, and absolutely no freezing.

No idea what is going on.

I'd like a cooling pad just because I like the feel of cool laptops though. :)

I'm gonna contact Dell about this - a lot of stuff is unplayable because of this ... and I have no idea what is going on. everything except games work just fine - could there be some problem with my nvidia card?

i had SC2 lock up only once and it was temp related. the air going in your intake is only as cool as room's ambient temp combined with the fact that i had something blocking the intake caused the lock up. so, if it's 80 degrees in your room, that's the temp of your air going into cool the m11x. turned the AC down a bit, tried to replicate issue, no issue found, problem solved.

I know I am kind of bringing this back from the dead, but I am having lots of freezing issues.

Games will lock up my system after 30 minutes of playing or maybe after 2-3 hours of playing. I have the back lifted up and my temps never reach over 70C. I have even had the system lock up while just surfing the internet (no flash involved). I only OC the CPU at 160 FSB, which is not extreme from what I have heard. Counter-Strike Source has it's own issue where just the game will freeze and everything else on the PC will run fine. I am using the modded 266.44v2 drivers from kopicha for my nvidia if anyone is wondering.
