    Hi guys,

I'm receiving a replacement M11x due to manufacturing defect tomorrow and was wondering if there would be any issues ghosting my current hard drive and putting it onto the new one.

afaik hardware should be the same so driver clashes etc. shouldn't be a problem.

has anyone done this before/have any advice?

    thanks

    tl;dr
cant be f'ed reinstalling windows on new m11x, can i ghost old onto new?

Should be ok. I kept old drives from R1 to R2 before and it works fine after some driver reinstalls.

Why not just pull out the existing hard drive, and move it to the new system? If they are identical, it should not give you any issues at all. I have a replacement system coming as well and once it arrives, I'm definitely not putting any time into even ghosting it. Just swap the HDD and be done with it. Takes all of 10 minutes, and 5 of those are fiddling with the screws. :)

If you need pics, I would be happy to make some of the process and put them up here, though I am sure there are a few other picture/video guides.

just got replacement today, and i have the sneaking suspicion that the first m11x that was sent to me was a refurb, although i paid for a new one.

    replacement is perfect.

I know how to swap out the hard drives but ones a seagate and the other a WD so not sure how dell might react to getting different parts back.

also the replacement has 'fresher' parts ;)
