My girlfreind just ordered me a reburbished m11x r2 with 2 gb mem , i-5, and 250 720 hd . She got this for 703 . Did she get a decent deal . I am very nervouse about the fact it is refurbished . She was also looking at getting a new M11x r-1 stock for 720. There is a part of me that thinks would have been better off getting new one. I checked the site and noticed for a extra 90 she could have gotten ordered new instead of refurbished. But would have felt like a jerk telling her to change order .Like honey really happy with the gift but for only 90 dollors you could have gotten me a new one. :D Dont get me wrong very happy but not sure about 700 on a refurb

Yeah, that's pretty nice. The R2 starts at $950, so being $250 under that, that's pretty good. FWIW my new one with an I5, 320gb hd, 4gb ram, bluetooth was $810 shipped, but that was with a 32% off coupon, another $100 off coupon, and free shipping.

Usually, I wouldn't go refurb but hey, it's a pretty solid deal. Just pop 2 more gigs of ram in there and you're all set.

well for an extra 40 she could have gotten one with 4 memory. But it is a gift and think she already spent 2 much for a gift. how much of a difference does the memory make going from 2 to 4. Is it worth hassle of canceling order and reordering.

Depends what you're going to do with it. If you're going to be editing videos, doing heavy gaming, etc with it then you'll want the 4 gigs. You could probably find some cheap ram on eBay or some other site and just put it in yourself. Otherwise, it sounds like a pretty good gift.

I just a moment ago pulled the trigger on this for $735.......New would have cost $1200....
I have purchased from refurb and had good luck until I order Alienwares. I ordered an M15X and it had a lot of issues,,Drive would not eject, respawn was corrupted, and a few other things. I sent that back for a refund in July...A couple weeks ago I get a coupon for Alienware again and i get a nice price on an M17X ( BEAST) it came the wrong power supply and could not find the OS..I immediately RMA that puppy and am waiting for $1232,,,,

Decide to get a loaded HP netbook for almost $500!!! LOL.....then I thought Dell Service has been great with the returns. So why not get the most powerful netbook in the universe? The coupon arrived yesterday for 20% off the outlet........and there were only three X2s on the outlet so I grabbed one.....tonight...So don't worry about the refurbs LOL. The worst that can happen as it's "bad" you send it back and then get a new and less powerful r1 or another Turbo refurb. I saved enough money on refurbs and extended warranties with Dell over the years to pay for a new loaded M17X LOL but I'll add the $400 and the $200 EW to the upgrade kitty for my desktop.... thank you....Outlet

Kingfish I was looking at that exact spec. Think you got better deal.
Only thing now worrying me is only have 2 gb and the fact that the one with 4 was only 35 bucks more. But will be using as a travel companion so much more than I need .

The Boeing EPP code got around the Internet and was good for 32%, and it was stackable with the other two :D. It expired awhile ago, though.

Personally speaking, it would be rather bad asking her to cancel an order and spend more money when it's a gift- she could have got you something worse. But even so, the RAM is easily upgradeable in the future, and relatively cheap. In my opinion there's no need to cancel the order just to upgrade from 2-4Gigs RAM and possibly annoy the girlfriend. Just take the gift and if you believe 2Gigs is not enough, simply buy some more RAM. Plus that way you don't have an annoyed girlfriend :) .

Alienware Joel you are correct. I am one of those people that can shop for something forever. She will do her research but is very quick to buy something and once she buys it is done. I am not going to change it she bought it for me and pretty happy with what I got . :D

Don't criticize a gift. The fact that she did her research, and found an item that she knows you would like tells you that she cares about you quite a bit. And the fact that she cares about you that much is much more valuable (and much longer lasting) than having a slightly shinier new toy. The fact that someone cares about you so much that they are willing to do that is worth more than anything money can buy. Absolutely priceless. You are a lucky man.

Unless you were planning on dumping her anyway. In which case, return that laptop, and get the new one.

Thank her & enjoy your gift. Simple as that.

If you're really concerned with 2 Gigs of RAM, upgrade it later on down the road. No need to rush or worry about things. Enjoy yourself & your awesome girlfriend.

Clearly your girlfriend is a kind thoughtful and considerate individual. I suggest you dump her at once and send her over to me so she can buy me things instead. :)

Thesee things are easy to return and get what you want. Not to worry..Besides After market RAM is always less expensive. I nver order a RAM upgrade or will I select a machine based on RAM. RAM is cheap. YOu can buy a 2GB stick for around $40 or less at Crucial or Newegg

Yep girlfriend is very cool. To be honest this system is much more than I need. I already have m17x for heavy gaming. My x-wife got me a xps 1730 that morphed into a m17x r2. Girlfriend is going for doctorate so travel alot.
Geting divorced sucks but aleast got great girl and a really cool laptop out of it ;)
