Steam Sale for today only $13 :D Although when I went to the checkout it said £6.50, now there's an exchange rate I like!

I thought Metro 2033 didn't run well on the M11x unless you put the settings to the lowest. :|

I'm skeptical about it, so I'll pass. Give it a try and tell me how it goes and maybe I'll get it when it goes on sale again someday. :D

I've not got my M11x yet. I'll be playing on my desktop on High DX10 :) Its one if not the most demanding game out there.

D: Don't keep your hopes that high. I think the M11x can only handle it on low, maybe on medium with a CPU and GPU overclock plus Throttlestop.

Graphic aside it's still a great game. Not very many quality single-player FPS's anymore. Everything is too heavily focused on MP now. Immersion and story take a back seat to flair and theatrics. Like some Michael Bay garbage.

Metro is a great game regardless of eye candy.

A great story is really important to a game, but it doesn't hurt if it looks good, too. :) I'm still interested in finding out how the M11x works with Metro, though.

Gotta say that I jumped on this too, I reckon my little beast can put it through its paces at least on low/med settings :)

Yeah, I wouldn't bet it would look that good on the M11x. I already have this
game on Steam, and it still manages to cripple my fairly robust build. That's
at 1680x1050, AA on, DX11 on, and settings at medium.

But what the hey, I'll probably give it a try anyway since it's in the library!

R1 users - with gpu oc 550/850 I averaged around 25-30fps. settings low, dx10, no AA or AF. Game looks really good even at low levels. Very dark, has that "STALKER" feel to it. If you lower the rez from native to 1024x768 you will increase FPS but to me it's not worth it. Play at either 1280x720 or 1366x768.

Just remember that you will need to OC the cpu for this one. Make sure you are optimized. Best Wishes, StevenX

    ***note***
(in the beginning of the intro mission you will see about 30 monsters on screen) Dont let the performance during this ruin it for you. It's just a way of pushing the machine to see how it performs at extremes.

I had no problems playing it on my R2 at native res with low settings. Not a lot to tweak settings wise, but it was very much playable and a pretty decent game all said and done. Well worth the $12 I paid for it during the last sale. TS might very well allow you to go with normal settings.

stevenx is right on about the opening scene. I freaked out a bit after having that scene bring my R2 to its knees.

That's great to hear, stevenx and slickie.

Can't wait to get the game loaded now. It'll be great to continue
the game even when I'm on travel, which is quite extensive these days.

    Thanks for the input!

Playable on medium with ThrottleStop and CPU OC. Never tried GPU OC before.

Few notes to get this running

In the ini set FOV to 50/60 (depending on preference)
Turn OFF DoF as its a resource hog for very little gain.
    Force V-sync ON
Force Tripple Buffering in the NV contol panel
Try DX9 and DX Medium/High. DX9 will probably work best with very little reduction in eye candy.

So a search for metro tweaks to find out how to edit the .ini's

I played the demo all at medium in my R2, all settings, and ran around 15-24fps, very playable at those fps, and still, at medium settings, looks awesome...

I think there is no point of playing it on medium where it will be labeled as "playable", I say this because even at low settings, It is still looking good. What im saying is that the graphics still look high even at low settings.
