I have only had it for 4 months, I really regret the fact I didn't look into optimus not being supported by linux quite frankly. It is mint condition I would say as its only 4 months old and just sits on my desk hooked up to a monitor on keyboard. I was wondering what they sell for right now? I was hoping to get enough money back to build a desktop. Anyways thanks a million love the forums.

You should be able to get a pretty good amount for it on the used market.

Have you ever thought of partitioning your drive and setting up one for linux for your work (I suppose thats what you use it for) and the other for everything else?

Yes I have actually done that. Sadly there is absolutely no way to use the dedicated graphics in linux. I experimented with APCI calls or something like that to try to get it to work to no avail. I tried 3 different distros including Arch linux. I was hoping to get 1000usd do you think thats pretty reasonable?

I do not know if it would be possible to get $1000 these days now that the prices are going down. The i7 model with 4gb RAM is $1100 for a completely brand new one. You could try but I would not get your hopes too high :( Sorry mate.

You can purchase a new 4g i7 from aw for $1064 with the $50 off coupon currently. In addition, dell is offering 20% off refurbs bringing the cost of a case i5 down to @$650, of course an i5 is not an i7, but I haven't noticed any i7 available as refurbs yet. Just as an fyi.

The most you'll get is $800-$900. And I'd sell fast cause the longer you wait the more it'll depreciate.

    I think Crazy is correct.

I just checked the i7 with 4GB again and it came up to $1114.

Base i5 with 4g ram is $949, $899 with coupon, add $165 to upgrade to i7 processor. If you're pricing out at 1.2k I,ll assume you have 8g ram onboard.

Good luck with the sale though. R2's seem to be taking it on the chin these days thanks to optimus :/

Yeah... I just bought a new i7 for $1000 CAD with the EPP discount and $200 off, if someone offers 800 take it, that will buy you a nice desktop.

What about getting an M11x with the switchable graphics? I would be interested in a possible trade with some cash on my end if your interested. Although I dont really see that much of an improvement on the R2 over R1, its something I would still be interested in doing.

Sell it to someone in the UK and make a profit! And the poor sod you sold it to would still get a deal.

Customs would treat that buyer to great injury while the vat would slap on a sweet dose of insult.
