Hey all,
Just wanted to let you all know of the good deal at Dell University for the R1...they dropped it to $499.![]()
-
I thought it was a system error but went to chat with the dell representative and she confirmed it. Great price in my opinion. I'll personally be upgrading the memory to 4g and upgrading the hard drive to 250GB SATAII 7,200RPM.
-
I thought it was an error too....I actually called to see if they would price match a Military rate....and they would but they wouldn't add the $50 coupon too it. Then while I was on the phone and saw that, and thought "I can live with a Core 2 Duo and don't need the i5" It's such a good deal, I feel it would be stupid to pass it up.
-
Core i5 is nice, but not worth the extra several hundred $$$. Good pick up. -
wow... and i thought $550 was a good deal!
-
I was also debating over the core2duo and the core i5 but after searching the forums and the internet I came to the conclusion that the core2duo satisfies my needs and I really didn't need the extra power the i5 provides (especially at such a high cost)
-
If only my tax return would hurry up and get here....
Looks like I'll be able to get the advanced warranty with the money this saves me. -
Hell yeah! Gonna check it out since...I'm definitely a student.
BTW this deal can be changed at anytime according to Dell. -
i hate looking at things after i buy them. -
Hmph, i bought a refurbed one and i paid 550 for those specs with bluetooth and only paid 555 out the door. I still feel good about it. -
And if anyway was wondering the site has been down tonight. It wouldn't lrep me place my order at first then I tried 2 hrs later and it finally worked. -
how do they verify that your in school? I have a ID from community college last year? do they have access to the schools id's or do they process the order then if your lying they charge you the diffrence? cant find any info in the terms and conditions.
-
I can see only additional EPP discount of 2% on top of 200$ off, am I looking at the wrong place?
-
Just checked this morning and it seems the price has increased.
-
I'm not sure how they verify if you are in school. But, the deal does appear to be gone.
It's back up to $587
-
-
You guys had me look again at the student discounts because it was down to $499 for the Core2Duo just a few weeks ago but it is back up to $587. I ended up getting an i5 for $880 shipped. I think that is a good deal and I am happy with this little monster.
-
Too bad I ordered mine the day before 499 deal, nevertheless got it for 549 before tax, not that big deal
-
Im pissed to be honest. I was going to buy it today. This is ridiculous. Looks like I'm getting it for $549.
-
Try calling customer support and talking to them. A number of people have had great luck with that.
-
Ordered it for $499 last night but canceled and reordered again this morning (hoping for a better deal). Free delivery, but CA tax and recycling fee and is out the door for 549 total - will swap my notebook memory to make it 8 gigs of ram and install a 500gb momentus xt hardrive ($104 from Amazon)- might upgrade to a 64gb mini SSD if priced fall more to a hundred. Got another 2gb DDR3 mem from Amazon for 19.99 shipped.
Still in the market for a mean lappie but I may grab the M11x-R3 if it comes out with a SB cpu and better graphics! or I might wait for Ivy Bridge and even Haswell he-he as my 9-year-old daughter has taken over my dv6 which is hooked up to a 23 inch HDMI LCD.
Not much into gaming but do play occasional strategy games and some adventure shooter games. But mostly for my chess database.
Good Student Deal
