So after my last issue with me processor and tampering with my drivers, I seem to have an issue with my Nvidia driver. I noticed this when my monitor wouldn't connect with my laptop whenever I started up, and found that my Nvidia driver wasn't working correctly, with the yellow ! icon by it. I fixed it by disabling it then re-enabling it, but when I do this the screen goes black for like 30 minutes, and finally works again. I'm afraid to update my graphics driver because when I do, my screen resolution shrinks to like 1000 x 700, and my monitor stops working, probably due to me having a previous driver installed, and yes, I've tried clean install while installing the new driver update. I know how to completely delete the driver, I just don't want to mess anything else up. My problem isn't all that bad, its just annoying when I have to wait like 30 minutes after re-enabling the driver. This also happens randomly when I start up my driver, mostly after a windows update. Sometimes it's fine though, so it's extremely confusing. I'm using Windows 7 x64 Alienware m11x R1. Anyone have any ideas of fixing this "crash"? If you need more info, post and I'll attempt to take a screenshot next time it happens. Thank you for your time![]()

Okay, as far as I know there should be no reason that installing a driver will put your resolution to something like 1024X768.
Are you running an external monitor? It sounds like you are as you are with the way you worded things. If that is the case then I can help you seeing as how I had nothing but problems getting mine set up and I finally got it working right. Let me know if that is the case.
What drivers are you running?
External monitor? what kind? (TV, LCD monitor, etc)
How are you connecting? (HDMI?)
Let me know and I will see what I can do to help you out. -
What drivers are you running? Nvidia GeForce GT 335M 8.17.12.6308
External monitor? what kind? (TV, LCD monitor, etc) Alienware OPTX LCD Monitor
How are you connecting? (HDMI?) Yes, HDMI. -
Okay, first thing is to disconnect the laptop and clean install drivers up to the 270.51 ones. Once that is done boot the laptop up and the plug in the external monitor while the laptop is running. If both screens turn black, then unplug the laptop, change the resolution on the laptop to something else (native for the laptop is 1366X768, change it to 1360X768) then plug in the external. Once you get the monitor to come on in a different resolution you can change the external monitor as long as your not extending your desktop to it, just make it a copy of the monitor and change the resolution up.
I have found that some monitors do not support the 1366X768 resolution that is native to the m11x.
Try that and see what happens, I know it is a lot but it should fix the issue. This is a problem you should not have.
Also, if this is something you have already tried and I have misunderstood please let me know. -
Ok, I'll try this. Thanks for the help!
