    Gutted...three weeks till the end of my warrenty and the left hand hinge has broken.

    I have been so carefull with my R1 and opened it today finding that there is excessive play in the left hand hinge. So dissapointed :( :( :( I know it can/will be fixed but what a pain in the .

    Sean, call Dell support, they will have an engineer out within 3 days to replace your entire LCD with the new hinges. They did it for me this morning, When closed it looks like a brand new lappy! Hinges are rock solid - Blessing in disguise ;-)

    And even if your warranty were expired, Dell would still replace them at no cost to you.

    Seems like it's always the left hinge... all 4 of my broken hinges have been the left.
