I've got my M11x R1 hooked up to a dell 24" via HDMI, and speakers hooked to the monitor through the audio-out but I'm only getting sound from the PC speakers and the only thing that appears on the "Playback Devices" screen is the PC speakers. Anyone know how to get the HDMI audio to work?

Go into the realtek control panel, I think you can change it there.... or maybe its the nvidia control panel...

I know this will sound strange, but try setting up the external as a single display as opposed to a clone or extended one. Move said display to what ever you are using as an external monitor and see if you have sound then, if you do the simply convert it back to a dual set up and see if that fixed it.

I actually did that when I could not get sound to go from my speakers to my TV and it ended up working for me, I suppose forcing it to single display forced the sound to work from it as well though I cannot be sure of the technicalities of it.

It worked for me, give it a try and see what happens.
