go to regedit and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/NVIDIA CORPORATION/HYBRID

then you will see the name "whitelist".. you have to double click on it and in value data you have to write the .exe of the programs you want to whitelist. for examen "msnmsgr.exe, skype.exe, ..." in this case find what is the name of the .exe of mcafee and type it.

    that's all

I just end the mcagent.exe process from the task manager. I'm planning on getting MSE once my trial ends for McAfee.

I have an R1, this is the form to "whitelist" programs for r1 so you can switch between graphics with fn+f2 and the app wont ask you to close the "whitelisted" program in regedit, so, if the app says you have to close mcafee.exe to complete the switching, you go to regedit, whitelist the .exe and the next time you want to switch that message wont appear.

i use avast as it is also free. i tried kaspersky once but it made windows take forever to load so i uninstalled it and went back to avast.

EDIT: it seems avira doesn't provide email protection in it's free version but avast does.

I'd much rather go "Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby" than wait for one trial period with McFee to end.

Think the first thing I did when I started my M11xR1 for the first time was to delete McFee and install a decent anti-virus.

Avast, love it or leave it, has the smallest memory foot print. It's the only free Anti-Virus that will run on my 333Mhz 192MB RAM winXP Tosh 'Netbook'.

Currently use Avira on my M11xR1

why avira? because you mainly check your email via the web browser? or does it have better virus definitions?

I've noticed that too with my McAfee antivirus program, I'll have to kill the mcagent.exe task to switch, then re-enable it. Isn't Chrome and/or Windows Live Messenger accelerated to look all pretty and shiny and stuff? (Like the Aero effect) I've never had that issue with Firefox.

lol the only reason I used McAfee was because my dad had a free key through his Scottrade accounts and was nice to give me a free antivirus program...I too have this problem though. Nothing a little Ctrl+Alt+Del can't handle.
