When I go into the nvidia control panel and bring up the list of programs I have on my pc, Halo 2 is there but i dont have halo 2. any one else have this going on? I just hate seeing in the list and cant seem to get rid of it.

Edit: So it seems Halo 2 is actually my Gears of War startup.exe. Probably since its a no cd patch.

@ddriver - Halo2 is one of the most challenging games to get working on windows 7. There are loads of sites with complaints about it not starting or windows live. I would read a lot of those carefully before attempting to play to make sure you get the best experience possible out of the game. I thought about picking up that title for the m11 myself until I read all the mess and decided, some games are just console titles, no matter how you slice it.

the only thing about Halo 2 being a console title is that its no longer XBL compatible... sad times, but I have it on my M11x and it runs like a champ. The problem Halo 2 was having was finding servers for multiplayer games, but I guess that has all been sorted out as I can find games all the time now.

How did you get it to work with Windows 7. Uninstall Live? I love Halo and Halo 2 was a Christmas gift from my son and I can't run it.

I didn't do anything... just installed it. I've had no problems with it. I also have it installed on my desktop and 7805u, both with win7 64 bit.

@Bus - Does it work on single player as well? No issues or anything? If so I may end up buying this.. I swear that I read a while back that windows live didn't like W7 with this game or something.

@tldoney - Everything works for me on 3 different setups, so maybe you have some conflicting software? If you're getting a live error maybe try uninstalling it. Halo 2 will reinstall it anyways.

@steven - I've played campaign and multiplayer and everything plays great. Here are my basic settings and I get a constant 55-60 fps:
    Vsync - on
    Resolution - 1280x720
    AA - 4x

Nvidia Control Panel - default(with the exception of forcing Vsync)

Well, not to be smart but, I was trying to say I don't have halo 2 at all but it was in list of games in the nvidia control panel. It turns out that if the program you try to add to the list isn't in the default list that nvidia has then it picks another name ( just a guess). When I added Photoshop CS5 it put it under Quantum of Solace: 007
