I recently updated my Nvidia Driver to 285.35 version. I have 335m series. After the update I no longer have an option to switch between the graphics on the m11x, i tried going back to the older version of the driver and still have no option. It is stuck on the other than High Performace gfx card. Is there a way to do it manually through DOS or BIOS? Thank you

Do you have an M11x R1 or R2?

I was told you lose that function when you update the driver on the R1. Do not know if you can go back. Do not know how it effects the R2. You may have to re image the drive. Maybe someone will chime who knows for sure.

You can go back no problem, i did several times to see if it gave me any boost in fps to no avail, download the 197.xx divers off the DELL site, run driversweeper to clear out the old drivers and then install the new ones.

There are 197 and 263 drivers avail for R1. Each persons result may vary so you may actually have better perf using the 197 over later ones... even including ver 999999999.

Should not need driver sweeping. 263 gives clean install option also.

Driver chasing isn't as relevant anymore and was never actually a proven performance path. This is more true the older the hardware... I'm running 285ver on my old 6200AGP card. Almost none of the driver improvements in YEARS apply to that card.

linovusa - welcome to NBR. We are very glad you joined us and I look forward to seeing more posts as you become integrated with the Alienware Community.

The search feature in the forum does not always produce the best results and hunting for information can sometimes be time consuming. You can use Google to help dial in on what you are looking for. As an example for your current troubleshooting situation, try Google searching for information using what is highlighted in bold as a prefix, follow by specific key words:

    site:forum.notebookreview.com M11x optimus problem

With respect to the answers you are looking for today, we have the M11xR2/R3 - NVidia Optimus Issues/Whitelisting Problems thread that should be a great place for this discussion. As some of our friends have pointed out, you may not find Optimus support with the driver you installed.

As a new member, I think you will also find these threads very helpful getting started:

Again, welcome to the NBR Community.
