    Hey guys!

Just recently put a 120gb Vertex 2 into my M11X R3 and absolutely loving the performance boost. However, I am having a couple of issues which I'm wondering whether or not are tied to the issues I've heard about stock Vertex 2 firmware...

    1. Windows Updates isn't functioning properly. It will install the updates and restart, but it will not configure them.

    2. I have installed Command Center but it will not work properly. I cannot change any of the lighting and it comes up with errors for the Microsoft .NET Framework, I can post specific errors later if need be. Also, the R3 seemed to have a different sort of Command Center layout and icon, is it possible to get a hold of this copy rather than the 'standard' one...?

So yeah... wondering if this has to do with the Vertex 2...?

Also, if it is, how exactly do I go about updating the firmware, and will it require another fresh install...?

    Thanks in advance!

If you uninstalled Internet explorer or another Operating system file/ utility to save space or streamline windows. When the updater goes to update that particular utility you uninstalled. It does what you described, what you have to do is go in and deselect those particular updates that apply to what you uninstalled or deleted. Then run the updater should go through no prob...

Example: Internet explorer- will try and update even if you uninstalled from the programs and features menu, turn windows features on and off is how this is achieved.

If you did not uninstall anything like windows uses then try to repair the installation by booting into recovery mode off the install disk, then try to update, then carefully apply the SSD tweaks recommended in these forums.

The firmware does not require a fresh install, just be sure to backup your OS to be safe with a imaging software. Acronis I prefer myself... although if a firmware update fails I would be so pissed not from losing data but having a expensive paperweight.

However a fresh install IS recommended if you have OS on your SSD previously installed of a image of partition used on a NON-SSD hard-drive. Apparently the way the data is stored on the mechanical hard-drive is not the same locations or some crap lol.

Here is how to do the firmware update..
    ( OCZ Technology)

Hope this helps PM me if you would like

I have been unsuccessful applying the firmware update on an Agility 2. I was swapping my ssd from an r2 to an r3 and thought it was the perfect time to do the upgrade. I was using a Thermaltake Blacx docking station and it the OCZ toolbox did not recognize the drive. I put it into a SansDigital TowerRaid and it still did not recognize it.
