Hey I just wanted any of you guys that have been debating on weather or not to buy a refurbish M11X This is my info so far.
First off was very happy that it arrived 3 days earlier then the tracking info said. When I first opened it up it looked almost brand new. I was surprised by that because in the past other refurbished laptops "from different companies" have shown up in not that great of shape.
Now for some of the bad! lol when I first got her running, I noticed that the front right grill light was very dim compared to the rest of the lighting. To me that was not that big of a deal because of the money I spent on it. In the past I have dropped $3400 on an Alienware M17 area 51. Anyway I over clocked it right off the bat and started downloading games from my steam account. No problems at all. The next day I really started exploring more and more on the computer and noticed that it said I only had 2gb of ram. Found this very odd because I had ordered a model with 4gb. Not for sure if I would break warranty or not I did not open it up to take a look. " I pretty much new that it was either sent with only 2gb and the other 2gb might be faulty. So anyway I called in to teck support and they had me open up the back panel and check out each ram stick. To my surprise they where both working fine it was just who ever installed them did not push the bottom one in good enough. Ok so now I am happy again and the teck support asked if any thing else was wrong? I said ya I have a problem with the right front light being dim. She went and talked to someone and said we will have a tec there tomorrow afternoon to fix it. Sure enough a guy showed up. That really surprised me. But I felt sorry for the guy he had drove 4hrs to come fix some little light and they sent him with the wrong one. Even though it was the wrong part he went ahead and replaced it. He said you might as well have the new one I brought and he installed it. So he left and came back the next day with pretty much ever part for and M11X . To my surprise he was just supposed to fix the right palm rest I believe. The guy went ahead and changed out almost every damn part of the thing. Installed a new keyboard, entire new palm rest, fixed the light problem. Also he noticed that one of my screws underneath was stripped so he replaced the entire plastics underneath and the back cover because he saw a few scuffs. I mean I was totally blown away buy the guy. He ran diagnostics on it and tuned up a few thing that he said would make it run smoother.
I have had it around 3 weeks now and it has not given me any problems. Very surprised that I can run Metro 2033 on it and other demanding games on it and they look beautiful.
I know some of you guys have had some nightmares but I just wanted you guys to know that I have a great product and was blown away buy there customer service.
Although every was not perfect I feel that it is worth buying one if you have been thinking about it.![]()

I'll second that. Mine, however, R1, has had zero problems. Everything working extremely well. Serious 'bang for buck'.

I got my M11xR1 basically third hand since I bought it used from a buy who bought it refurbished 2 weeks prior. It's run very smoothly and i've had no problems with it even after reinstalling Win7.

My friend just got a refurb after seeing my m11x. It was in great condition except for the minor annoyance of the alienware text under the screen not lighting up. We didn't feel like it was worth calling dell over it and other than that he loves it. I'm actually kind of jealous, I paid $875 while he only paid $626. The only differences aside from his being a refurb is that I've got bluetooth and an SU7300 while he has an SU4100, which we all know are almost identical in performance.

Thanks guys! Its nice to hear that there are good things to say about the service. There are lots of posts complaining about lots of things from bad tech people to this to that. Just refreshing to know someone has had a good experience. I have had my R1 for almost 5 months now, and yes its not the mothership of all gaming laptops but the hippy's with their macs and the rest with their envy's can just bite me.
Having good luck with M11X R1 refurb
