Anyone able to confirm this? Would be a nice 200-300 buck upgrade for whenever they hit ebay.

I believe so, but. You would need the new fan as well since the thermal wattage of the gpu is higher. (Yes not the same fan)

Example: My 540 idles at 53C

if you idle at 53C you might wanna think about replacing the thermal paste lol.

Yeah I added a copper shim and redid my paste. I idle @ 47C or so.

    edit:

under light use my GPU idles like 35C and my CPU idles @ like 38C

You will need to do some slight moving around with the motherboard and you will need to maybe replace the fan.

What is with the temps? I know some people with a m11x (R2) and idle temps around 50-55°C are normal, we all have the same, it could be different because of a hot or cold wheather...

Only place I have seen temps below 45°C is in a Desktop with a lot of fans and other cooling systems....

I don't know where you got the $200 - $300 figure from, but it is going to cost a lot more than that.

The motherboard contains the motherboard, CPU, and GPU soldered onto it. You will be buying all 3 components when you buy a motherboard. And that is going to cost a lot more than $300.

by the time it hits ebay itll be worth that much. r2 motherboards still havent hit. the r1 mb started showing about a year or more after they released.

edit: scratch that just checked and saw my first r2 MoBo hit ebay for 300. At this rate I wouldn't imagine the R3 MoBO to hit Ebay until at least christmas or later.

You'd be better off selling your R2 and buying an R3

Is true, if you update everytime there is a new model, you need a lot of money, I have a R2, and I plan to keep it at least 3-4 years before I get a new one, the upgrade to the R3 is not worth it, the R3 is better, but is not worth the 1,400 upgrade....
