A few days ago my video card just disappeared. The GT335M card has been working flawlessly for years up until then. As of right now, the laptop is running perfectly on the Intel card and its as if as if nothing is wrong with it. Of course with the exception of the video card being completely gone.
I thought this was a driver error so I tried deleting the Nvidia drivers and reinstalling them. Now it gives me an error that it can't find the hardware for it. So I tried the Dell drivers to no avail. Finally I thought it was a driver issue so I reformatted the computer and it still isn't being recognized.
So my question is: Is the graphics card dead or is there a fix to this? My warranty finished Nov 2011 so I'm pretty much screwed on that front.
Thanks

Unfortunately, that does sound like a dead video card. Thing is, dead video card on M11x means a motherboard replacement to fix. You can try calling Dell and see if they can sell you an extended warranty?
I called in after my warranty expired on Oct. 2011 to get my hinges fixed. The rep on the phone sold me on a 1 yr. extended warranty that included a next day tech visit to replace the lcd screen. The alternative was to send the laptop to depot with a 2 week turnaround. I was actually surprised that I was allowed to get the warranty AFTER I already reported an issue with the laptop. Give them a call and see if they can do the same for you?
Help! Dead GT335M disappeared even after reformat? (R2, GT335M)
