    SOLVED

So today I took apart my m11x-r2 and when I put it back together it wouldn't turn on. What now happens is the everything will start as normal in the beginning (fan, keyboard lights) then suddenly the fan will go full throttle and there will be 7 beeps. The screen also never turns on.

I hope I didn't break my laptop :( I promised this was the last time i was going to open it that far too *sigh* Anyway I looked around for what it means, tried reseting cmon battery, reconnecting all the little connection thingies, using only one ram in different spots, ect. I have run out of ideas. I was hoping someone would know what the 7 beeps mean. Please help!

Edit: I finally fixed it, and it was the thing I should have checked first. The only variable that changed, my wwan card. I took it out and it changed to 5 beeps, I put my RAM back in and it turned to 4 beeps, finally I swtiched up the RAM slots and it booted. I put my wwan card in after it booted and it still wanted to boot so in the end I have no idea what happened really.

Thanks to everyone that helped, sorry for not thinking of it earlier >.>

just did a little searching, but looks like 7 beeps is a cpu failure.

Can also mean the motherboard, take it to somewhere where they are help diagnose the issue. Could be you've not seated the daughter board correctly.

Oh god I hope not :'( Shouldn't there be a manual for it? Doesn't say what the beeps mean in the manual they gave me.

That's the one with the audio jacks right? I tried resetting already as carefully as I could.

Yes the daughter board is the one with the audio jacks, is there nothing else you could have missed? In my experience (1000+ laptop rebuilds) it's quite difficult to do enough damage to break something unless you've been quite brutal or are the god of static.

Couldnt hurt to take the whole thing apart and put it back together again... maybe you missed something the first time around.

I have had good luck with that, had a computer not start after taking it apart, so I re-took it apart and it worked after that.

Why did you take it apart in the first place? might give us some idea of what is causing the failure.

I took it apart for two reasons, the first was to install a wwan card and the antenna behind the keyboard (I had just had the hinge serviced around half a week before so I removed it before servicing) and two, because the bottom was loose and the warranty officer told me it was due to a missing screw. I went in to replace the screw in which I had to open it all the way (which it turns out didn't help at all).

I took the whole motherboard out although barely even touched the back side (cpu/gpu) and also tried to take the bluetooth module out but couldn't since the screw was worn out.

Oh right I see, I'd love to help further but without having it in front of me it's hard to tell.

Are the beeps short? What happens after the beeps? Does the fan start up on maximum immediately?

Yeah, thanks for the help so far. It starts up normal for a few seconds then the fan goes berserk, it then restarts, the same thing happens but this time there are 7 ~0.5 second beeps, this beeping pattern repeats indefinitely.

Have you tried making sure the ram is in the right slots? Ive found that my cpu beeps if it is in one order but not in another. Try swapping their spots.

I tried every combination of RAM to slot including only using one. just to note, if I take out the RAM completely it does the exact same thing as before.

    Edit: Solved
